9th Phoenix Police Officer Shot In The Last 6 Months

Learn More About Operation Protective Shield

On June 14, 2022, a female detective with 19 years in the Phoenix Police Department was shot multiple times during an investigation near 43rd Ave and Baseline. The officer was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition and is expected to survive. Her body armor is credited for saving her life.

Executive Assistant Chief Mike Kurtenbach stated, "It is just the beginning of summer and our homicide rate is up 24% over the same time last year. Homicides involving firearms are up 45% over the same time last year".

As a community, we can come together to enhance officer and community safety by increasing the number of protective shields available to patrol officers responding to high-risk situations, such as approaching structures and vehicles. They are versatile and can be used in a variety of life-saving scenarios.
