Life gets so busy sometimes it's hard to keep up. Phoenix Recovery Programs can help. This monthly newsletter will highlight research, events, and activities happening in the behavioral health field. As always, we are happy to help in any way we can, so please reach out to us.
Outpatient Treatment Comes to Mankato!

Phoenix Recovery Programs is excited to announce the opening of an outpatient program in our Mankato location. The program will operate in two phases. Phase 1 is Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm and a Family Group on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm. This phase lasts approximately 6 weeks, but also depends on progress clients make. Phase 2 is where clients attend group on Thursday from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm and the Family Group on Tuesdays from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm. This phase also lasts approximately 6 weeks, but again depends on client progress. All clients will also meet with their counselor individually at least once every other week. Narcan Training
Thanks to a wonderful collaboration, on December 4th, Phoenix Maplewood staff are all trained in the use of Narcan. Stephanie Devich, BS, CPP, LADC taught at our all staff training, providing staff with information on opioid use trends in the Twin Cities area, how to recognize an overdose, how to administer Narcan as part of first-aid care, and the legal protections around using Narcan to help someone who is overdosing. Considering the dramatic rise in opioid use, our staff are better armed to address this concern.
Bad Moods and Anxious Feelings
Did you know there appears to be an association between anxious feelings and attempts to quit smoking? Researchers are finding that people who have a high sensitivity to the physical symptoms of anxiety are more likely to return to smoking to address this negative affect. This means people with this high sensitivity to bodily reactions to anxiety need extra support around addressing those feelings before and during their attempts to quit smoking.

Substance Use Disorder Reform
With the many changes that have come with the 2017 SUD reform, many programs and counties have been left with many questions. As the implementation of the reforms moves forward, Phoenix Recovery Programs is working to fill some of the new needs. One of those is the Comprehensive Assessments. We are able to provide adolescent assessments in addition to our treatment programming. Just give us a call and we'll work with a client to get the assessment scheduled.
