Phonics First Foundations Level I

K-3 classroom teachers, K-5 resource and special education teachers.

Our thirty-hour highly intensive Orton-Gillingham Phonics First Foundations Level I course provides teachers with the necessary strategies and tools to deliver high-quality Phonics First multisensory reading and spelling lessons.

 

Foundations Level I content includes: alphabet and phonemic awareness strategies; the three-part drill for structured review; tactile/kinesthetic spelling techniques for phonetic and non-phonetic words; basic and advanced syllabication for multisyllable words; advanced spelling strategies and guidance for lesson plans and classroom implementation. Participants have opportunities for hands-on lesson practice with other participants. This course emphasizes teaching reading to beginning, struggling and learning disabled/dyslexic readers in elementary grades.

Phonics First Foundations Basic is an introductory Orton-Gillingham course providing teachers with a solid understanding of the basic elements of the Phonics First multisensory reading and spelling program.  It covers the first 18-hours of the 30-hour Phonics FirstĀ® Foundations Level I course.

 

Foundations Basic content includes: alphabet and phonemic awareness strategies; the three-part drill for structured review; tactile/kinesthetic spelling techniques for phonetic and non-phonetic words and beginning syllabication for multisyllable words. Participants have opportunities for hands-on lesson practice with other participants throughout the course. This course emphasizes teaching reading to beginning, struggling and learning disabled/dyslexic readers in primary grades.
