Dear Friends,
In 1989 my mother created a 40-foot metal sculpture titled "Beanstalk: Colorfalls I" for the Artluminum Exhibition at La Maison Alcan, Montreal Canada. This exhibition of contemporary art featured the use of aluminum. On March 2, 1990 the sculpture was re-installed for the opening of the expanded
Thalian Hall in Wilmington North Carolina.
I want to share a YouTube video below I recently received from Tony Rivenbark, Executive Director, Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts. View the process of the cleaning and rehanging of "Beanstalk: Colorfalls I".
As many of you know Wilmington celebrated my mother's 100th birthday with a Zoom citywide celebration from Thalian Hall on June 29. Tony, one of my mother's former assistants, said of her involvement in Wilmington, “she had friends all over the place, and lots of Wilmingtonians got to know her."
