Dear Friends,

As the official spokesperson for U-Haul (just kidding of course) I can tell you there is no better way to ship my mother's art than in a 26' U-Haul with me behind the wheel. Not a bad way to see America through the eyes of a truck driver.

Seriously though, last month I drove a 26' U-Haul to Philadelphia PA from Wilmington NC (500 miles) where five multi-colored totems from the Rockefeller Center Collection are on display at the Philadelphia Flower Show through June 13. (I will share photos in my next email)

On June 14th, I will drive another 26' U-Haul from Philadelphia to Orlando with stops in Wilmington NC and Casselberry FL. The Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation will loan art to the Wilson Center in Wilmington and to the city of Casselberry.

As part of Wilmington's Centennial Celebration, the Rockefeller Center sculptures were on display at the Cameron Art Museum, the Arboretum and above the entrance to the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery. (See photos below)

In addition, The Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation donated sculptures to GLOW Academy, Dreams of Wilmington, Cape Fear Community College and New Hanover Regional Medical Center. (See photos below)

On my trip to Philadelphia I had the opportunity to meet and thank Val Carter for the two hooked rugs which she generously donated to the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation.

She said her hooked rugs were inspired by "Dorothy Gillespie's geometric sculptures".
