Photos of Gillespie Art Taken on Road Trip from Orlando to Westchester NY

Dear Friends,

Earlier this month I drove a U-Haul truck (my 12th U-Haul over the past two years) with three multi-colored sculptures from Orlando to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Westchester NY where they are on display. (See photos below)

You might remember that last year the Rockefeller State Park Preserve had a Holiday Show featuring my mother's art. Click this link to see photos from last year's exhibition.

While in Orlando earlier this month I visited Winter Garden to see the new installation of my mother's art which is on loan from the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation. (See photos below)

My last stop was in Roanoke VA (my mother's hometown) where I visited the Taubman Museum and Lindor Arts the art Gallery with the most Gillespie sculptures for sale in the country. (See photos below)

On the way to the Rockefeller State Park Preserve I stopped in Roanoke VA (my mother's hometown) to visit the Taubman Museum. (See below) The Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation recently donated the small sculptures to Art Venture.

The Taubman Museum of Art's Art Venture is an innovative, exploratory gallery for youth and families. Visitors to Art Venture can paint, draw, build, connect music with art, investigate 3D printing and printmaking, create sculptures, display art work, and much more. This interactive hands-on learning environment includes continuously changing programming that engages children ages 12 months to 17 years and connects to the Museum's exhibitions and permanent collections.

Below are the two table top sculptures that the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation donated to the The Taubman Museum of Art's Venture.

The three Gillespie paintings on view in the museum below are from the Taubman Museum permanent collection. These paintings are significant because after 1962 my mother would be moving away from two dimensional works to get involved in the “Happenings” movement and then onto three dimensional metal.
