Photos of the Installation of Dorothy Gillespie Sculptures at Jawonio

Dear Friends,

As many of the you know, the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation has placed her art around the country in hospitals, universities, libraries, performing arts centers, outdoor sculpture parks and non-profit organizations which help individuals with disabilities. (See list of all organizations below.)

This Fall, I met with Jill Warner, former CEO of Jawonio, and Randi L. Rios-Castro, the current CEO of Jawonio to discuss the long-term loan of art from the Dorothy M. Gillespie Foundation to Jawonio. Founded in 1947, Jawonio is the premiere provider of lifespan services in the Mid-Hudson Region of New York. I had an opportunity to tour the new building on the Jawonio main campus in New City, NY to look at possible locations for the 20 hanging starbursts and a nine-piece wall sculpture. (See photos below)

Last week, Jawonio staff members, Daniel Lukens and David Mangone installed the final pieces of the Dorothy Gillespie "Shadows in the Royal Garden" a series of 9 panels, enamel on aluminum, hanging on the far wall in the café space in the new building. The starburst sculptures were installed the week before.

Thank you Jawonio Staff members, Dan Lukens and Dave Mangone for hanging the final pieces of the Dorothy Gillespie art installation in our new building! "Shadows in the Royal Garden" is a series of 9 panels, enamel on aluminum, hanging on the far wall in the café space in our new building. The perfect accompaniment to the starburst sculptures. What a beautiful addition to this wonderful, warm and welcoming space for all those that come to Jawonio!
