The sounds of bluegrass will flow through Hampton Park during the second weekend of Piccolo. The low-key and family friendly music venue Awendaw Green is partnering with Piccolo Spoleto to present some of the finest homegrown pickers and fiddlers Charleston has to offer. Boonie Bevins Band, Cane Creek String Band, and Big Stoner Creek will all be on hand to play exceptional bluegrass music.

An inspired evening celebrating the grandeur of opera with a light-hearted spirit and boundless passion. Animalia Brass will open the family-friendly program with a memorable musical “crash course” for kids that is certain to help demystify classical music. They will be joined by Holy City Arts & Lyric Opera founders Leah Edwards and Dimitri Pittas recently seen at Piccolo Spoleto’s “Classical Promenade” and as the featured guests artists on the North Charleston POPS! “Love Italian Style” program.

As the sun starts to set on Piccolo Spoleto 2021, Hampton Park will host another fun, free event to celebrate the city and the festival. An opening performance by the CSO Brass will kick off the evening at the Gazebo at the park entrance from Rutledge Avenue, with Gino Castillo and the Cuban Cowboys then taking the stage by the lagoon to perform “Cha-Cha-Charleston” and more. Led by Afro Cuban percussionist and singer Castillo, the Cuban Cowboys’ high energy jazz performances bring dancers and non-dancers alike to their feet.
