Premier Honeycrisp

This apple is EVERYTHING that you love about Honeycrisp - just earlier!

Premier Honeycrisp apple were discovered in Pennsylvania in 2011. They're a large apple that’s red with a yellow background color. Big, juicy, and sweet, Honeycrisp’s flavor is comparable to apple cider. Crisp with a clean break when bitten, Honeycrisp is crunchy, sweet, and delicious. Substantial enough in size to be called a meal, it’s also been called dessert straight from the tree.  This delicious apple is great for eating, baking and making applesauce!

Paula Red

Paula Red apples were developed in Michigan in the 1960's. The apple was named after the developer's wife, Pauline. This small to medium sized apple is crisp, juicy, sweet-tart, and is known to have a wine-y flavor. You can use this apple for cooking, fresh eating, making apple sauce, and flavorful pies.

Dandee Red

Dandee Red apples are very similar to Paula Red apples. Though they were also developed in the 60's, however these apples originate from Ohio. This apple is a dessert apple, meaning that its best use is for eating fresh. Its flavor is pleasingly tart and has a nice crisp.

Red Free

Red Free apples were released in Indiana in 1981. They have a smooth glossy skin with 80-90% medium washed to slightly striped red on a yellow ground. Their taste is mild, making them a delicious summer snack.

Ginger Gold

The Ginger Gold apple has a really cool origin story set in Virginia. This apple was discovered after a hurricane. They found this strange tree growing fruit during clean up efforts. It was discovered that this apple was derived from Golden Delicious, Albermarle Pippin and a third unidentifiable cultivar. Juicy and tart, this apple is perfect for eating and for salads.

Zestar

Zestar apples are considered to be an early version of Honey Crisp apples. They were introduced in 1999 at the University of Minnesota, just like Honey Crisp. They have a sprightly sweet-tart taste with a hint of brown sugar. Their color is 60-85 percent red depending on exposure to the sun. Where the sun shines on the fruit, a bright rosy-red blush develops. Shaded areas are often creamy yellow. Zestars are great apples for eating fresh.

Sansa

Sansa apples are sweet and juicy with a little tang. They were developed in the 1970's in Japan, in collaboration with New Zealand. It is a cross between Akane and Gala varieties. This bright red apple is streaked with yellow. Sansas are best used for eating fresh. They make a great addition to charcuterie boards
