You can still connect with church friends in a small group by joining one of these upcoming Zoom sessions:
February 17 is Ash Wednesday
We invite you into a Holy Lent by participating in an online worship at a time that is convenient to you. A service will be posted on the church website by 8:00 a.m. on Ash Wednesday. You are welcome to receive palm ashes from the church on Sunday, February 14 or you can use ashes from home. Also, beginning the Wednesday after (Feb. 24), Morning Prayer will be offered at 8:00 a.m. and Compline at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays throughout the season of Lent. There will be time for music, silence, and common prayer in one half-hour of your day. If you are interested in hosting Morning Prayer or Compline on Zoom please contact a member of the clergy.
Buy your copy of Food and Feasts of Jesus today so you can be ready for our Wednesday evening Lenten program (see Cooking with Clergy below). If you need help purchasing the book, contact Mother Kim; scholarships are available.
Samples from Sunday
This week’s selection is “Deep River” arranged by Harry T. Burleigh and performed by Chase Peak, Bass, and Dr. Elizabeth Melcher Davis, Pianist. This lovely solo was a musical offering in our online worship service on February 7. We are featuring African-American music, such as spirituals and gospel music, in our February online worship services to celebrate Black History month. Be sure to subscribe to the GHTC Music Channel on YouTube to be notified of new videos as they are posted!
Cooking with Clergy: Food and Feasts of Jesus
Beginning on Wednesday Feb. 24 we will gather at 6:00 p.m. for a time of food, fellowship and formation via Zoom. Each week, we will share a recipe for a first century meal from the book Food and Feasts of Jesus, and gather to discuss the scripture or scriptures which inspired the recreation of the recipe. You can make the meal on your own during the week or make it on the day of the gathering to share your experience during our time together. We will end our mealtime by joining in Compline at 8:00 p.m.
