Pickering Animal Services Launches Pet Support Services for our Community
Pickering Animal Services recognizes the deep connection people have with their pets, and the benefits that come from these types of bonds. Unfortunately, residents may find themselves in vulnerable situations where they are unable to care for their pet and need temporary support.

Pickering residents who find themselves in these vulnerable situations will now be able to access the following services:
Community Pet Pantry
The Community Pet Pantry is open to anyone in the City of Pickering who is currently struggling to provide food and pet supplies for their pet.

If you are in need, or know someone who could benefit from this program, please contact one of our Community Centres below to arrange to pick up supplies today.

George Ashe Library & Community Centre

East Shore Community Centre

Additional locations will be listed on our Pet Support Services web page.
Safe Pets Victims Support
Did you know, 89% of pets involved in situations of domestic or intimate partner violence are also abused? Many human shelters or transitional homes are unable to house animals, which prevents many victims from seeking safety. We have collaborated with SafePet Ontario to help provide temporary sheltering to help support those individuals fleeing violent situations.

Register for the Virtual Information Session scheduled for Wednesay, May 12, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm to learn about SafePet Ontario and how you can help a pet in need.
Accessible Veterinary Care
Animal Services continues to offer the Durham Region Spay Neuter Assistance Program to residents in need.

Currently, this program is only available to cats, but the goal is to expand and include other animals and services in the future.

In order to qualify for the program you must be a Durham Region resident and must be receiving assistance from a qualifying government program.
