I was reminded this week that a year has passed since we stood on what has historically been identified as the ‘North Field’ and broke ground on a project that was years in the making. A project that required hours of consideration, courage and caring for the future of a dream that began on January 3, 1963.
Fast forward to today and we see a building taking shape on that North Field. A building that with every swing, whether it be a hammer or a steel beam is building what will be the future for our residents. While we pray for strength during these daily inconveniences that test our patience, we take comfort in knowing that ‘this too shall pass’. As the time passes at lightning speed, each day brings a visible change in the landscape and shape of the space.
Our residents and their families have been incredible throughout this process as well and many continue to ‘supervise’ the workers from afar. We’ve seen moms and dad bringing their small children to the perimeter of the property as they watch together the trucks and earth movers climbing the tiny mountains of rock and soil. Our prayer is for their continued tolerance and understanding as we improve the corner that we all consider home.
We’re hoping that a year from now, we can open our doors to all of you and welcome you to join us as we share our future with you. But we are reminded daily, that the wood, the steel, and the concrete are only the outer shell of the heart that beats on the inside. Our residents are what has driven us to make these greater decisions and the small sacrifices that we make during the process will become the greater reward for them.
Until next time, enjoy these long days of summer!!!
