Mother, Mom, Mama, Grandma, Mom-Mom, Nana, Mimi….all those words describing the same person. This month is set aside to honor and celebrate those women in our lives that have nurtured and cared for us for a lifetime.
We celebrate their
strength during those long nights with little sleep; their
patience during the hours of homework and last-minute science projects; their
support and cheering from the sidelines as they watch a soccer/baseball/football game in every climate imaginable. We celebrate their
touch when holding a feverish sick toddler and their touch as they hold and admire the fingers and toes of their first grandchild. We celebrate their
wisdom as they guide us through a difficult relationship or a failed endeavor, all the time reminding us that we will rise above it and learn from it. A mother connects their families in so many ways, oftentimes, not seen or appreciated until later.
And so, to all those strong women who have paved the way for us to grow; whether they became our mothers at birth or assumed that role as a gift, may they know and understand our gratitude. May they realize that this day set aside for them is more than just a ‘Hallmark Holiday’ but a day when we pause to consider the lessons learned and to thank them for every second of their love.
Wishing all of you a Happy Mother’s Day … Celebrate all that you are and the gifts you give to the rest of us!!
