Dear Friends,
Approaching the end of 2023, Pickering Manor finds itself in a reflective mood as we reminisce about the memories created over the past year. However, the holiday season has arrived, bringing with it opportunities to create and cherish new memories. The previous year was a busy one for us at Pickering Manor, marked by celebrations of our 60th Anniversary and the opening of our Memory Care Neighborhood. It was also my first year serving as CEO and Executive Director, having been entrusted with this great responsibility. This past year presented many challenges but also gave rise to numerous cherished memories. As expressed by members of our community, Pickering Manor emerged stronger than ever before as "the place to be" for senior living!
At this time of Thanksgiving, we express gratitude towards all those who support us at Pickering Manor: staff members along with their families; individuals who contributed towards various fundraising initiatives; and most importantly, residents along with their families who form the backbone of why we exist - why we love what we do!
November is traditionally a time when we thank and remember our veterans for their service and sacrifice to our nation. It is also a time when we remember those whom we have lost this year and in prior years. Pickering Manor lost a few of its long-time residents this year and it hurts us just as deeply as it hurts their families. We lost two fervent and long-time supporters of Pickering Manor, Marge and Jean Torongo. They were always there when Pickering needed that boost or support, and we miss them dearly!
As we look ahead to December and all the holiday festivities, lest we forget our residents and our staff. The dedication and various experiences that they bring to Pickering Manor make us what we are today. A vibrant and caring ‘family’ that celebrates the best of our community and the drive to move us forward.
I would like to wish you all joyous holidays ahead whether it's Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas or Happy Kwanzaa. May 2024 bring forth only great things for both ourselves here at Pickering Manor alongside everyone else supporting us within the wider community around us! Please remember to support our annual appeal drive and help us to replace the many roofs in our Pickering community. Happy New Year!
