Pickering Soccer Centre Update
March 21, 2022
Progress Report re: Dome Collapse
As always, please keep in mind that weather conditions moving forward
will continue to impact our rate of progress.

In the last month, it's been primarily about ICE removal from the surface of the dome membrane. With the changing temperatures, both snow and water have built up at times requiring additional patience!

Snow and ice must be off the membrane to allow for inflation and assessment of further possible damage. External repairs of damage suffered has been mostly addressed but until the dome is more fully inflated, the fact remains that there could still be rips/tears that require attention. Internal repairs required (e.g.: surface or lighting) are still to be assessed and to move forward with these, we must inflate the dome. The inflation process requires us to pay close attention to wind conditions on an hourly basis.

All of this work is being closely monitored by Facility and Club staff (as well as by City staff and our Insurance carrier) in conjunction with dome specialists.

At this point in time, we still assume the facility will not be operational for early April 2022, and we have set April 15th as our new target date to resume operations.
Impact on Existing PSC Bookings
Unfortunately, it is likely that some dates booked in April 2022 will require cancellation:

  • IF April sessions are being cancelled, you will receive an email from psclf@pickeringfc.ca titled "Booking Cancellation Notice". This will show the exact sessions removed from your booking invoice.
  • Revised booking invoices will also be sent out via email that will show your revised position as far as a remaining balance or credit on your booking.
(Balances are revised as dates are added or removed from your booking)
  • Ideally, makeup dates can be arranged once we are operational again.

Remember - the City of Pickering does not grant outdoor grass and diamond permits until quite late in May - our facility (once standing - no darts please!) can be booked year-round!

As always, Lisa will be in the office 9am-5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Email continues to be the best means of communication but she can be reached directly at 289.624.2106.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
