Dear Facility User,

It has been some time since the last newsletter, we know. Unfortunately, we still do not have an official reopening date, but it has certainly been busy around here with contractors constantly buzzing about.

Evidence of their efforts can be seen with the following items completed:

• the new dome membrane was installed and then inflated
• new light-weight insulation was installed
• new concrete pad laid to house a new airlock attached providing additional storage space
• replacement exit doors and new revolving doors were installed
• lighting - new wiring pulled and new LEDs installed
• concrete pad installed to support the hard court
• anchors for dividers have been installed (from the ceiling/walls of the dome, replacing the 6 blue posts previously required)
• replacement turf is onsite and awaiting installation

A sky light to provide optimal daytime lighting, allowing for more control of lighting costs by the Club.

The new lighting system utilizes energy efficient LED lights for overall improved brightness.

You may recall we had six large yellow boxes at the edge of the fields which housed a standpipe and fire hose. We are pleased to confirm that the City of Pickering Fire Chief has approved the removal of the boxes and they will now be located below the turf surface and make the spectator area less cramped. We now expect the turf professionals to start installation this coming week.

Once the interior is graded and the turf is installed, lines will need to be cut in and divider netting installed.

Final installation will include a new track surface and a hardcourt surface. The hard court will facilitate sports like futsal, volleyball, basketball and our newest offering; Pickleball!

a) booking time in April/May 2023 prior to outdoor permits being available, or

b) booking time in the Fall of 2023.

To assist us with our planning, specify the type of booking you would require (for example: 1/4 field weekly on Tuesdays from 9-10:30 from April to end of May 2023, or, 1/2 field on Saturdays, 7pm-10pm on May 6, 13, 20 for baseball exhibition games for U10 boys).
