Featured artists use their skills with textiles and mixed media to explore the history of human slavery, emotional trauma, incarceration, and knowledge as a gateway to freedom, among other topics. Each artist utilizing their medium to push their message forward. From lush and detailed embroidery to ethereal translucent textiles mingling with found objects, these artists "explore the powerful connection between the revolution and the subsequent transcendentalist movement," according to a curatorial statement. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., and an artist talk by Merill Comeau on Wednesday, April 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Mondays by appointment. Bonnie Sennott: Noise Antidote Abstract Embroidery at Kingston Gallery

in Boston, Massachusetts through April 27

Kingston Gallery presents Bonnie Sennott: Noise Antidote Abstract Embroidery, which shines a spotlight on the intricate and inspired abstract embroidery of Amherst-based painter and textile artist Bonnie Sennott. "The small, meditative works in Noise Antidote invite viewers to slow down, enter a quiet space, and take a break from the noise," according to a curatorial statement. Sennott's work is created through a "process of improvisation and discovery" that lends to each piece's organic nature. From her work, it is clear that Sennott's experience as a painter comes through in her embroidery that can at times seem almost painterly. There will be an artist talk on Saturday, April 19 from 2 to 3 p.m. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m., and by appointment. Kingston Gallery is located at 450 Harrison Ave, No. 43, Boston MA. For more information, please visit here.
