Pieces of the Rock
Quest for His Kingdom
Matthew 6:33
Parents,

This past week I had the chance to sit down with different Lutheran administrators from around the state at the Indiana LCMS district offices here in Fort Wayne. We were sitting around and talking about all the different people and groups that help us from the Indiana district to INPEA to the Lutheran Schools Partnership to the Lutheran Foundation to LCEF and many many more. All of these groups help us and other schools around the state run smoothly and effectively. It reminded me of the old saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.”

I look back at my school years and from Peace Lutheran Preschool to Unity Lutheran School to Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran School to Concordia Lutheran High School and then on to Concordia University Chicago, the Lord was constantly working on me through hundreds and hundreds (it takes that many with a kid like I was) of people. My parents and the community sacrificed so that I could become the person I am today and continue to strive for. I look at my own children and even in a short 4 and a half years the amount of people that have poured into my children and are helping shape them is humbling.

So, thank you parents. Thank you for making a Lutheran education a priority in the lives of your children. Thank you for letting us be part of your village. We do not take this lightly but rather we know it is the most important work. All of us as teachers and adults had people invest in us when we were younger and now we aim to do the same for others. Knowing that by ourselves we would fall short, but by the grace of God we are fruitful!

We feel tremendously blessed that we get to minister to your kiddos every single day. We thank the Lord that He has chosen us in the time and in this place to be His hands and His feet. Continuing as always, together, to Quest for His Kingdom!

In Him,

Chris Brune
Weekly Updates & Reminders
BizTown Volunteers Needed
This year, our 5th and 6th grade classes will participate in an exciting Junior Achievement program called BizTown!

BizTown encompasses important elements of community and economy, work readiness, financial literacy, and business management.  As part of the program we will spend the day at BizTown on Friday, September 27th.  Each student will assume a job, produce and/or sell products or services, receive a paycheck, work on a business team, repay loans, shop, and manage a personal bank account. ...it is going to be AWESOME!

To make the simulation visit a real success, we need MANY volunteers to assist students at BizTown. Volunteers will participate in a brief training session to prepare to work with the students the morning of our trip, so all volunteers will feel confident in their role.
Please contact Heather Volmerding as soon as possible if you are interested in helping!  (You don’t have to be a 5 th or 6 th grade parent to join us!!)
Pastries with Parents
Kids never mind waking up a little early on this day! Join us Thursday, September 18th in the Cornerstone Room to enjoy breakfast and fellowship provided by the PTL.

In Our Classrooms
Soaking Sponges
We had a chance to observe how much weight in water our sponges absorbed. We used our scientific method to observe, measure, experiment and much more. We were amazed at just how much the sponges were able to absorb in a short amount of time!
Gold Up for Grabs ... Working Incognito
Mrs. Rodenbeck's classes participates in Classcraft, a game based style used to motivate students and help them build collaboration and teamwork skills. In 8th grade, a war was declared and a random player from each team competed in arm wrestling for 20 gold pieces. It was a close match, but Drip Squad defeated The Coldcuts, earning teammates 100 experience points! Meanwhile, in 7th grade, Jack fell in battle and had to work incognito.
K-9 Visitor in 3rd Grade
In 3rd grade today we had a very special four legged visitor! Each week a different student in 3rd grade is selected as 'Star of the week'. This week there was a special request if we would allow a favorite retired police K-9 to visit. We were more than excited to have such a distinguished guest in our school!
Looking Ahead
Middle School Schedule
With our new schedule adding Technology and transitioning this year to a part time PE position, we will be posting our afternoon schedule for the MS here each week. We will rotate between 'A weeks' and 'B weeks' and we will list that here each week. Since a portion of your students' PE grade is following PE dress code, we wanted to make sure to over-communicate to you which week it was. So check back to see when your kiddo has PE each week!
Advancement News
Faithfully Forward Campaign
Thanks again to all of our members who have supported the campaign to date. Recently, the campaign has benefited from several employer matched gifts. What a wonderful way to support St. Peter’s and the campaign. If you don’t know whether your company has a matching gift program, please take a moment to check. This would be a great way to support the campaign and help us complete the task by the end of 2022. If you have any questions, would like more information, or have some ideas of how we can finish paying off the mortgage, please contact Tony Hunt, 222-1291 or [email protected] .
