Pieces of the Rock
Dear Parents,

Last night and tonight Dr. Michelle Drouin is presenting at Concordia Lutheran High School on tools for parents with kids growing up in the digital age. She also presented today at a professional development day for our teachers. On March 3rd we are super excited to welcome Cathy Bledsoe, an Indiana State Trooper from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to talk with our students as well as parents that night. We are lucky to have both of those experts in and available!

The reason there is such a push into events like these lately is very important. With the rise in technology and devices available our kids are growing up as ‘technology natives’. They speak the language. We as adults and parents need to be aware of what is available and how to help our young people navigate the devices they have effectively. Technology in and of itself is not bad, some of us spend a lot of time being productive on technology throughout the day. The important part is education. Making sure parents, other adults and kids know how to use it productively. I certainly hope you can make it on March 3rd and possibly to the talk tonight at the high school as well. Enjoy the nice long weekend!

In Him,

Chris Brune

In Our Classrooms
Learn Not to Burn
FWFD came this week to share fire safety with students. They learned about evacuations and what to do in case of a fire. Captain Carlos Gomez guided our students in the job of a firefighter and even gave them a chance to try on some of the protective equipment firefighter use on the job. Thank you Captain Gomez!
Valentine's Day
Kindergartener's learned all about how Valentine's Day originated and shared the LOVE with their friends! All of our classes enjoyed a variety of different parties and activities on Thursday. A lot of love was shared around the whole school!
Hall of Presidents
Our second graders have done quite a bit of research on presidents of the US as we approach Presidents’ Day! They researched a president's life and career, wrote a report on them and even made a portrait out of a clothes hanger. Next week, come through the lower elementary and see our Hall of Presidents!
