Pieces of the Rock
Quest for His Kingdom
Matthew 6:33
Dear Parents,
As some of you remember from a previous Pieces of the Rock edition, each week we here at school focus on a ‘Wildcat Essential’ at whole school devotions. This week our essential is, ‘accept that you will make mistakes and learn from them.’ As we were choosing this essential it was especially impactful to me. I know that I personally expect perfection (or close to it) from myself and other people around me and it can be frustrating when we fall short of our own expectations. We forget sometimes that perfection is not possible in our sinful world.

Our Heavenly father expects perfection out of us as well. He even went above and beyond that and sent His only son down to earth to give us the perfect example of how to live out the perfect life. He also knew that we had already and would continue to fall short of His expectations, so after His son lived a perfect life He sent Him to the cross to die for us. While we were still sinners Christ died for us, not when we deserved it but when we were at our worst.

I know that I need to focus on that example more than I do. We are sinful people in a sinful world that will continue to fall short of His expectations, and yet we get frustrated when we or others do not live up to that. Take the example of God. Not only when people deserve it but rather sometimes when they do not deserve it. If we wait to forgive someone until they are perfect we would wait forever, harboring that frustration with the sin in the world. Keeping that frustration in our heart can quickly occupy our every thought and action. So learn to accept that we are not perfect, and learn from those mistakes!

In Him,

Chris Brune

In Our Classrooms
Middle School Electives
Today in the middle school we tried something new for the first time here at Saint Peters. We took our electives that were distributed over a couple weeks in short class meetings and combined them into an end of the quarter ‘Electives Day’. Teachers worked on creating fun and different classes for students to take. Mrs. Lunz had a class on meal planning and actually made a whole meal, Miss Volmerding led a class on DIY skincare, Mr. Mello taught Dartball and Mrs. Rodenbeck brought in two experts from Lopshire Flowers to teach floral arrangements and carve pumpkins... and that was only one third of the classes offered! What a fun day to relax and learn different things outside of our usual curriculum. Enjoy the pictures from today below!
Creature Feature Day
“Fun Friday!” It’s the time of year to teach and learn about physical properties (science standards) and adjectives (language arts standard) in Kindergarten.... so why not do it in a way that the kids are super engaged and excited about?!! It was CREATURE FEATURE DAY in Kindergarten!
