EP67 - Piecing Together Public Health With Tripp Logan
In the past, you were bound by your pharmacy’s four walls. But in today’s world, you can step outside of your services and work with providers and patients to improve your community. In other words, you can be a larger part of public health. Tripp Logan, Vice President of SEMO Rx Pharmacies, discusses the key role pharmacists play in public health and explains how you can piece together your team to make a bigger impact in your community. You’ve always been the first line of defense, but now, you can get the distinction you need to serve in new ways.

Keeping the Legacy Alive | Alameda Thrifty Pharmacy
Tucked on a street corner in the heart of Sun City, you’ll find a white building with bright red letters spelling a well-known name: Alameda Thrifty Pharmacy. You’ll notice the big windows, warm light, and of course, the iconic Texas lotto sign framing the entrance. Open the door and you’ll find a store buzzing with people inside.

You’ll see customers browsing well-stocked shelves; you’ll see kids scouting out after-school snacks; and behind the counter, you’ll see Laura Quijas serving patients she’s known all her life. Almost instantly, you’ll feel that you’re witnessing something special — something that goes beyond a pharmacy. And that was by design.

Added the Previous AWP to the Item FDB Awp History By Month Report Template
Release Date: 06.01.2022

The PreviousAwp data field is now available on the Item FDB AWP History By Month report template. This data field will display the last average wholesale price (AWP) that the item had prior to its current price. This information can be found on the Item Profile by navigating to Item > Rx Item > Search for Item > Max AWP > History.  This data field will not be on any report by default and must be manually added via the Report Designer if needed.

Users can generate the Inventory AWP History report by navigating to Item > Rx / Retail Item Advanced Search > Enter Search Criteria > Reports > Inventory AWP History

Practical Use: Adding the previous AWP to the Inventory AWP History report allows pharmacies to view the current and previous AWPs on the same report and to anticipate overstock based on item price changes. This is also important when reversing and rebilling third parties to reflect changes in price.

Added the Primary Care Prescriber Fax Column to the Rx Transaction Advanced Search Grid
Release Date: 06.01.2022

The Primary Care Prescriber Fax is now available on the Rx Transaction Advanced Search's Expanded, Expanded With Comments, and Financial grid layouts. This column will display the patient's primary prescriber's fax number that is located on the Prescriber Profile. This information can be found by navigating to Patient > Prescriber > Search Prescriber > Primary Fax.  This column will not be on any views by default and must be manually added via the Field Chooser if needed.

Practical Use: Pharmacies can include the primary prescriber's fax number on their grid layout to use as a point of reference when generating reports that need to be faxed to a prescriber, such as the Vaccination Administration Report. After generating a report from the Rx Transaction Advanced Search, users can select the Fax button to open the Send a Fax dialog. From here, users can enter the fax number found in the new column of their grid layout to quickly enter the prescriber's fax number.

Added the Secondary Third Party Authorization Number to the Prescription Label Template
Release Date: 06.01.2022

Practical Use: Including the secondary third party's authorization number on the prescription label will allow pharmacies to identify prescriptions that were paid by the secondary third party in the event the primary third party rejected the prescription.
Expanded Functionality to Bagging OTC Items
Release Date: 06.01.2022

The ability to create bags for only OTC items is now available! This update allows users to create a bag of OTC items without requiring a prescription.

OTC bags can be created in the following ways:
• Point of Sale - Sale > Point of Sale > Scan OTC Item > Bag > Select the Loyalty Shopper > Save.
• Check Station - Workflow > Check Station > Bag > Scan Items > Save.

Practical Use: This improvement expands upon the bagging feature by allowing users to create bags specifically for OTC items. This allows pharmacy staff to prepare bags for patients who may not have a prescription, but require a special order OTC item. This allows the item to be bagged for when the patient arrives while also providing the ability to track non-prescription inventory more efficiently through the use of will call bins.
