PIEDMONT, OKLA. (January 13, 2025) - Piedmont Schools announces Billy Miller as the new head coach for Piedmont Cross Country. Cross country athletes and their families are invited to an introductory meeting on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Athletic Center.
Billy Miller brings extensive coaching knowledge to Piedmont Schools, having spent 27 years as the Head cross-country and Track & Field Coach at Southern Nazarene University. Under his leadership, SNU athletes achieved notable success, earning numerous national titles, All-American honors, and setting multiple school records.
"Piedmont Athletics is eager to welcome Coach Miller to our coaching staff," shared Matt Shellenberger, Director of Athletics and Activities at Piedmont Schools.
"His enthusiasm for mentorship and commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field aligns perfectly with the values of Piedmont Athletics. We are confident Miller’s leadership will have a lasting impact on our Cross Country program and the entire Piedmont community."
In addition to his coaching career, Miller taught health & physical education in the Putnam City School district for 25 years, 23 of which were at James L. Dennis Elementary.
Coach Miller values building strong relationships with athletes and inspiring them both in and out of the classroom. He is passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives.
Miller and his wife Amber have been married for 28 years and live in Yukon, Oklahoma, and have three sons, a daughter, and one daughter-in-law.
Piedmont Schools welcomes Coach Miller and looks forward to the future of the Cross Country program under his leadership.
