Field Day was June 22, 2018 and good old fashioned fun was had by our 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. It was started off with hot dogs and hamburgers followed by fun and games in the back of the school. There was a rock climbing wall, potato sack races, tug of war, water races, and a kickball game. Music was provided by Larry Silvestri and Del's Lemonade was served to all.

Be In The Know
Starting Time/Tardiness

In an effort to increase instructional time, we are eliminating homeroom on a daily basis. Students will report to homeroom on the first day of school and then only as needed for the remainder of the school year.

School opens at 8:05 and morning exercises will begin promptly at 8:10. Due to this change students will now be considered tardy if they arrive after 8:10 .

Instead of homeroom, students will report directly to their 1st period class where attendance will be taken and morning exercises (pledge and brief announcements will be observed.

Parents who drop their children off at NPS in the morning should be particularly aware of this change and should plan to leave home a few minutes earlier than they have in the past.
School Supplies

Get a jump start on getting your students' supplies for the 2018-2019 school year. The attached link will provide you with what your child will need for his/her classes to have a successful year.
NPS Athletics

Sports offered at NPS are for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. To be eligible to start the first day of tryouts, you must sign up on Family.ID and have an updated physical along with a signed Assumption of Risk (Principals' Committee on Athletics) form .

Sign ups and Forms can be found on the link below or on our school website under Athletics.
Stay Connected With Power School

Keep track of attendance and grades on Power School which is available to all students and their parents. Power School access codes will be given to 5th grade students and students new to the district within the first few weeks of school and parent's access codes will be mailed home. These access codes are used from 5th through 12th grade.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In preparation for the coming school year please contact me with any medical conditions or health concerns you may have that would impact your child in school (daily or emergency medications, allergies, etc).

As in the past we have students in all grades that have Peanut and Tree Nut allergies. All classrooms are Peanut/ Tree Nut Free. Please do not send in snacks to the class that contain these products. There are no restrictions at lunchtime.

A reminder that 7th grade students are required to have a report of a recent physical and updated immunizations.

I wish you and your family restful and healthy summer days.

Be well,

PTO News
Pier Plays Update from the Committee!

The Narragansett Pier Middle School community needs your help to build an outdoor space where the NPS students can be creative, have fun and be more active!

The Estimated cost of the NPS recreational/Pier Plays facility is $77,000.

Thanks to the dedicated Narragansett Community who came out to the beautiful Dunes Club on Friday, June 1 for Beach Blanket Bidding, the Narragansett Schools' PTO raised  $ 20,765 for each of our three schools. We're also happy to report that through the generosity of those who took part in the auction, an additional $14,650.00 was raised specifically for the Pier Plays project! That brings our total raised to date  $35,415.

A combined effort of the money raised from Beach Blanket Bidding, budgeting, grant writing, and a team of volunteer installers have helped us to NEARLY reach our goal so that our current and incoming students can enjoy healthy, physical activity and play for years to come.

Visit our  website  to learn more about this important project, its progress, and how you can help us achieve our remaining goal of approximately $20,000 to make Pier Plays a reality for our students.

Thank you!
