During the past holiday season, Pinal County Animal Care & Control launched an incentive program to encourage fostering. The program was meant to last only through the holidays, but the shelter is continuing the program indefinitely due to its success!

Fosters can make anywhere from $25 to $100 a week by fostering one of the eligible dogs in the program. Contact the shelter directly for more information on the foster incentive program at 520-509-3555.

The shelter is hosting its first-ever Teddy Bear Clinic to teach children how awesome it is to be a responsible pet owner! Children will explore the teddy bear pet hospital, the plushy pet groomer, and the stuffies’ animal shelter during the clinic! 

The Teddy Bear Clinic will occur on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at

the Pinal County Animal Care & Control Shelter. Join PCACC for a fun afternoon of imaginary play,

hands-on activities, and creative craft-making, all while learning the importance of basic pet care; please email [email protected] to sign up!

Clemson was initially found as a stray with another dog on October 27th, 2022. Clemson spent months shut down, scared, and unable to walk on a leash; this deterred most adopters from giving him a chance. Clemson has regained his confidence and learned how to walk on a leash thanks to the dedication of shelter staff and volunteers.

Clemson is a soft and gentle boy. He is a playgroup rockstar, meaning he does great with other dogs. He has recently been placed in a foster home, where he is learning what it is like to live in a home instead of a shelter, and he is doing fantastic! Read Mavis' Adoption Success Story

Mavis was in the shelter's care for 389 days. The shelter was puzzled as to why this girl was constantly overlooked for adoption. One theory about why Mavis was at the shelter so long is the common phenomenon of "black dog syndrome." Black dog syndrome is common in animal welfare, where darker-colored dogs are overlooked in favor of lighter-colored animals.

Mavis finally got her happily ever after in January 2024. Mavis, now Maisie, was adopted by a lovely couple who recently lost their doggie companion. After seeing a picture posted of Maisie online, they headed to the shelter the next day, where they fell in love and took Maisie home for a foster trial. After two weeks of fostering, Maisie's adopters knew she was the one!

This cutie is Teddy! You may have known him as Cyler when he lived at the shelter. Teddy was adopted in December, and his adopter recently shared his DNA results.
