Free Microchips All October



There is nothing scarier than losing a pet! Now is the time to take advantage of getting your pet microchipped for FREE!

Pinal County Animal Care & Control is holding appointments for free microchips through October! Yes, we mean free, no fees whatsoever! Simply schedule an appointment, bring your pet in costume, or donate an unopened bag of candy. Schedule your appointment today by calling 520-509-3555 or emailing [email protected].

The second Annual Dogs, Cats, and Cowboys Hats Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 21st, hosted by the apparel brand Girl with a Black Dog, benefitting the Pinal County Animal Care and Control Shelter.  

The event will include an evening of fun, food, live music, a silent auction, and raffles. PCACC Director Audra Michael will speak on behalf of the shelter and present shelter dogs available for adoption. Learn more

The shelter's annual fall event is back! Celebrating the fifth annual Pup-or-Treat, the event will include free microchips, waived pet adoptions, a haunted house, and many more spook-tacular activities! Learn more

The shelter invites the public to visit the shelter on October 7th to watch doggie playgroups throughout the day. Doggie playgroup is the practice of letting the dogs at the shelter out for yard time to interact and play with the other dogs at the shelter. From the teachings of the animal welfare organization Dogs Playing for Life, the shelter has been utilizing daily playgroups to provide physical and mental enrichment for the dogs at the shelter. 

Thanks to Dogs Playing for Life, Petco Love, and BOBS by Sketchers, our shelter has been selected to participate in the National Playgroup Rockstar Adoption Event on October 7th, 2023. Learn more

Johnny Cash was found as a stray and lived at the shelter for three months before being diagnosed with heartworm. After his diagnosis, his chances of being adopted were even slimmer as he required medical care. Johnny Cash was placed with the perfect foster family, who eventually fell in love with him. With help from friends of Pinal County Animal Shelters and great fosters, we can help medical cases like Johnny Cash. You can learn more about Johnny Cash's story here.

Meet Shelter Favorite, Max!

Max came into our care in 2020 as a young dog, only about a year old. Due to being a rambunctious young adult, Max had a hard time finding a home and was repeatedly brought back from foster. After being at the shelter for over a year, Max was finally adopted in 2021. Recently, Max was found as a stray and is once again looking for a forever home. Max is a lovable boy whose energy has naturally calmed over the years. He loves going for walks and playing with other dogs, to schedule a meet and greet please call 520-509-3555.
