Adoption Success Story

Henry is a young dog that had gone to several different foster homes for possible adoption. However, he never quite fit in and would be returned each time. After spending 11 months at the shelter, Henry has finally found his forever home!

Recently, a citizen came to the shelter looking to meet a dog that had already been adopted and was no longer available. Thankfully, this person was open to hearing suggestions from staff of other potential companions. Staff recommended she meet Henry, and it was love at first sight! Henry is now settling into his new home, loving his new mom and doggie sister.

Pinal Pet of the Month

Meet Shelter Favorite, Simon!

Simon found his way into the shelter’s care in May of 2021 as a stray. No one ever came to claim Simon as their lost pet. He was estimated to be around a year old when he arrived at the shelter. Being a young, beautiful, and social dog, we did not think it would take long for Simon to be adopted.

About five months into our care, it was discovered that Simon had valley fever. Valley fever is a common fungal infection in Arizona caused by spores in the dirt. Although valley fever is treatable, the condition had deterred adopters from Simon for a long time.

Thankfully, Simon found a caring foster home that has been caring for him through his treatment since October 2021. After months of treatment, Simon’s valley fever days are behind him! Although fully recovered from valley fever, we are still scratching our heads as to why Simon has not been adopted yet.

Simon is now about three years old, has recovered from valley fever, and is still waiting for a home. Simon is housebroken, crate trained, doggie door trained, and knows his basic commands. Additionally, he has been trained on how to swim and get out of the pool, and he’s sociable with dogs and humans! Simon loves spending time at doggie daycare with his doggie friends, he loves toys, going for walks, and snuggling!
