Director's Corner - Summer is Behind Us But Keep Safety Top of Mind!

"We are so happy the summer months are behind us, but the main staples for your pet remain the same:

  • Shelter
  • Clean water
  • Food every day

We have been seeing so many animals we pick up underweight and malnourished, and it breaks our hearts. We have a food pantry where you can get food to help feed your pet. We are happy to help those who need it.

Just visit us and ask about the Pet Food Bank Program. It is our way to help our furry families keep their pets!" - Audra Michael, Animal Care & Control Director

Our 8th Annual Pup-or-Treat was Another Hit!

Our 8th annual Pup-or-Treat was a huge success on October 17th, with Kids, Adults, and their pets! This event is our biggest of the year, and we want to thank everyone and all the vendors who came out.

We completed about 16 adoptions, and many other animals went out on foster-to-adopt! We are already thinking bigger next year! Thank you again to the team, vendors, and volunteers who helped make this event such a success!

Below are the staff and volunteers for our annual picture!

Night Time Dog Walking is Becoming Quite Popular!

The night before, Pup-or-Treat, a night dog walk and scavenger hunt, took place. Walkers were given headlamps and clues on where to find the prizes waiting for them.

About 60 people came many of them were families enjoying the walk and the weather. Watch our website or our social media pages for updates on the next night walk!

Cactus Middle School Pays a Visit to Make Bandanas for our Senior Dogs!

November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. PCACC is waiving all fees for any dog or cat over 7 years of age.

To prep the senior dogs to look their very best, Cactus Middle School students made them cute bandanas to wear all month.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our pups. We really appreciate you!

Cactus Middle School students are posing with Paiyaso, who recently left on a foster-to-adopt! The bandanas are already working!

Volunteer of the Month - Kim Leone Larson

Some come to PCACC to walk dogs… and some end up giving the whole place a little extra shine! In November, we spotlight Kim Leone Larson, who has been volunteering with us for 5 years and became a vested volunteer last year!

Kim and her husband are from St. Cloud, Minnesota, and have been spending their winters here in sunny Arizona for the past five years. She first heard about PCACC through the grapevine and spotted our public dog-walking sign out front. We’re sure glad she followed that lead!

Kim says volunteering is her kind of pet therapy, and we think the dogs would wholeheartedly agree! She loves getting out with our pups and especially enjoys seeing our younger volunteers. When she’s not busy walking dogs? If there’s a stray push broom nearby, don’t be surprised to find Kim sprucing up the place, too!

When Kim isn’t sharing her time with our four-legged friends, she’s enjoying Arizona’s fabulous fall/winter weather, sewing, and crafting with friends in her community. Kim, thank you for 5 wonderful years of wagging tails, helping hands, and making PCACC a brighter place. We’re so grateful you found us, and we hope you know that you’re part of what makes our volunteer family so special!

Pinal Pup of the Month - Meet Autumn

This month's dog of the month is Autumn A287847! She is a female blue nose pitty with a huge heart and lots of love to give.

Autumn has been waiting for her forever home since January of this year. You would need to bring your dogs to meet her, but please consider this girl, she is a real sweetheart!
