A Message from the Board...
Well, we have reached the halfway mark of the 2024/2025 season. We have already produced several incredible shows which have been both critical and box office sensations with record breaking sales. Our productions included:
Drinking Habits, directed by Patrica Holerger was a huge success. Sold out performances were a delightful surprise and resulted in an added show. Our patrons were very entertained and wrote many five-star reviews on-line. The high energy and spontaneity of the actors kept everyone laughing all the way to the parking lot.
A review from one of our patrons: “Drinking Habits was one of the best shows I have seen in community theatre. The cast was excellent, and the scenes flowed so smoothly. What put the performance over the top was the physicality of the actors. They were impressive in how they used movement to enhance the story. All the actors were great. Kudos to the cast, director, and lighting specialist. The Pineapple Playhouse never disappoints.”
Doubt, directed by Michael Pisacane, was an outstanding show. The strength and honesty of the characters fascinated the audience. There were standing ovations at many performances. Though Doubt is considered a drama, there were comedic moments that gave truth to the story and the characters. The actor’s ability to bring these characters to life is a true testament to the quality of talent at our theater.
Review from one of our patrons: “Doubt lives up to its reputation with this production. The cast all handle the material admirably. Ms. Michaud does a star turn as Sister Aloysius - pitch perfect. Danielle Frazier brings down the house in her scene. Their performances do more than justice to this wonderful play. Take it from an old altar boy.”
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike directed by Josef Long, proved that absurdist and sibling relationships combine to create a one-of-a-kind play. In 2013, the play won the Tony Award for Best Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play. One supporter stated that the hard work and talent of our actors were of Broadway quality. Not knowing what to expect from its title, our patrons were surprised to discover this play brought many emotions, including laughter, tears and nostalgia. The audiences were thoroughly entertained.
A review from one of our patrons:
“It was our first time seeing a show at The Pineapple Playhouse, which until recently, we'd never heard of. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike was a fabulous production. We were blown away by the expertise of the actors and the set in this Community Theater and we plan to come back for future shows whenever possible”.
We also produced three Special events in the first half of the season.
Faith Healer (in conjunction with ACT), Broken Angels and Twas the Night Before Christmas. All three events were well attended and received excellent reviews. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to present shows that are thought provoking, stimulating and bring the holiday spirit to our community.
And there is much more to look forward to in our next three Main Stage productions.
