$80 Million Employment Sites Programs attracts Pinellas Employers

Pinellas County’s Employment Sites Program launched on January 11 is attracting attention not only from developers, but also from local businesses hoping to expand within the Pinellas. The program can assist in the construction or redevelopment of industrial (manufacturing & flex) and office buildings that provide growth opportunities for target industry employers hoping to create new jobs. Allowable capital expenditures related to development include: site preparation; vertical construction; infrastructure development; and site acquisition. Madico - Thank You for Doing Business in Pinellas County |
On January 12, 2021, the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners recognized Madico for choosing Pinellas County to grow their business, as well as the company's innovative work to help supply face shields for personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shawn Kitchell, President and CEO of Madico, shared how Madico rapidly retooled their business model and production line to prototype, field test, certify and manufacture face shields beginning in March 2020. This 117 year old company headquartered in Pinellas Park has continued to improve their process throughout the pandemic and the shields are currently being sold on Amazon. The Tampa Bay Innovations Center's winter 2021 Accelerator cohort of five startups will receive specific training and mentoring in customer discovery, investor-readiness and leadership over the next 90 days. “We are excited to continue the Accelerator program in 2021 and welcome these innovative companies into the program. While the program focuses mainly on product and go-to-market strategy, we will also work with the founders to strengthen their marketing messages, business processes, and leadership skills. The selection process is always tough. There were many good applicants, but we focused our effort on the companies that we can assist most through the program and our mentor network.” said Ken Evans, accelerator managing director.
The startups of the cohort include:

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved Business Physical Disaster Loans to repair or replace disaster-damaged property owned by the business, including real estate, inventories, supplies, machinery and equipment. Businesses of any size are eligible. In addition, businesses can apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) to provide working capital to help small businesses of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster.
