Since launching Pole Star Defense, a subsidiary of the UK-based Pole Star Global, President Ben Minichino has grown the company's Pinellas County presence significantly, thanks in no small part to working with the Florida PTAC at PCED. “It has been instrumental in helping and assisting Pole Star with just a large number of very practical, very needed services. You know, workforce development, hiring and recruitment, helping us align our corporate capability with what we know that our potential customers were looking for from a governmental perspective. We’ve grown from literally three people who helped start this business to now we’re over fifty and those fifty people, you know, we’ve been able to bring incredible opportunities, high-paying defense jobs, great benefits but realizing that we are one hundred percent in on St.Pete,” Minichino said.

Sponsorships are available. | Employment Sites Program Update | The Pinellas County Employment Sites Program continues to successfully meet the obligations it set was designed to achieve: assisting in bringing new and redeveloped structures to the Pinellas market. Through four rounds of funding, the County has committed more than $22 million to construct/reconstruct close to 900,000 square feet of industrial and office space. Six of the 17 approved projects have been completed, delivering 471,000 square feet of new space that is meeting the needs of growing Pinellas businesses. Round 5 will be presented to the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners soon and we anticipate opening Round 6 late November. FDI Mission to London Yields Impressive Return | In April of this year, Brent Barkway, PCED Economic Development Manager, traveled with other leaders from Global Tampa Bay to London, England, to conduct foreign direct investment (FDI) meetings and strengthen ties with UK partners. As a direct result of Brent’s participation, four different companies conducted follow-up visits to Pinellas County to learn more about the benefits of doing business in the Tampa Bay region.
