Principal Message

Dear Pineview Families,

October is coming fast and I don’t know about you, but some of us here are looking forward to some cooler weather. Thank you for sending your Pineview student to school, ready for whatever weather Wisconsin throws at us.

Thank you for your cooperation during our Drop Off and Pick Up times each day. The system seems to be safer and more efficient. We all appreciate your patience!

Our students are more familiar with the routines of their classroom, cafeteria, hallways, and playgrounds. The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) work continues, and the students and adults are learning and growing every day as we remember to do things The Beaver Way.

  • Be Safe
  • Be Kind
  • Be Responsible

Throughout the school year we will continue to practice various safety drills at school. Our students are familiar with fire drills and we always assure the students that we are practicing and that they are safe. We are also beginning to practice Standard Response Protocols (SRP) in our building. We use a program by iloveyouguys.org. The safety protocols provided are intended to be practiced so that our students know what to do in the case of a building emergency. Our hope is that these drills become as familiar as fire drills.

So far this year, we have had one fire drill, and one drill called a HOLD. During a HOLD, we continue business as usual; classroom doors remain closed and locked, students stay in their assigned areas, and teachers continue to teach. This response is to keep students and staff out of the hallways. Our practice HOLD lasted about 7 minutes.

You may or may not be notified of a HOLD in the building. It would be situation-dependent. However, all other SRPs would come with a notification or debriefing. At some point this year, we will practice all of the response protocols. We will share information prior to the practice so you can help us prepare your student.

Expecting Excellence,

Mrs. Jenny Hynek

Parent Drop-off & Pick-up Area:

For everyone's safety, parents who use the drop-off lane should pull their car next to the curb and pull it as far ahead as possible. Please have your child exit the vehicle from the passenger side.

Student Absence, Tardy, Leaving Early & Going Home Plan Changes:

If your child is absent, running late, leaving early, or has a different going-home plan than normal, please call the Pineview Office at (608) 768-8932 (there is a 24/7 answering system). Handwritten notes can be given directly to the office.

Appointments:

If you attend any doctor, dentist, therapy, etc., appointment during school hours, please ask for a school excuse note from your health professional and turn it in to the Pineview Office upon returning to school.

Things Happen!

Spilled milk, bloody noses, wet clothes, and bathroom accidents happen. We have limited supplies, and we need your help. Please pack an extra set of clothes in your child's bookbag in case an accident were to happen to them. Place the following (shirt, pants, underwear, and socks) in a ziplock bag along with a plastic grocery bag for the soiled clothes. Remember to replace with appropriate clothing as the seasons change.

Make Us A Contact In Your Phone

Please enter Pineview Elementary and our phone number (608) 768-8932 as a contact in your phone in case we need to contact you regarding your child's health, absences, school closing, etc.

Visitors & Volunteers

Background checks must be on file seven (7) days before the event. Once a background check has been completed for our school district, another one does not need to be completed––no matter which school(s) your child has attended. You may call our office to see if we have one on file.

Medications

Doctor-prescribed and over-the-counter (OTC) medications that must be given at school require a completed Medication Consent Form. Only the doctor-prescribed medication will require the doctor's signature.

A Word from our School Counselor

October is National Bullying Awareness Month. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time.

To be considered bullying, the behavior must be aggressive and include:

  • An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power—such as physical strength, access to embarrassing information, or popularity—to control or harm others. Power imbalances can change over time and in different situations, even if they involve the same people.
  • Repetition: Bullying behaviors happen more than once or have the potential to happen more than once.

Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.

Please encourage your child to find an adult at school if something or someone is making them feel unsafe or uncomfortable. It is helpful to talk about the issue as soon as possible.

We all have the power to work together to help curb the problem of bullying. If parents and teachers keep the line of communication open with their children, hopefully, they will feel comfortable talking about their problems. Please contact me at school if you have any further questions.

Referendum 2024 - Pursuit of Excellence

November 5, 2024

Our mission is empowering all students to maximize their potential in fearless pursuit of human excellence.

Ballot Question One - Operating Funds:

Exceed the revenue limit by $4 million per year for the next four years (non-recurring), ending with the 2027-2028 school year, for the purpose of:

  • Filling projected budget deficits in each of the four years as a result of shortfalls in state funding;
  • Maintaining and expanding on our current focus to provide rigorous academic programs and career pathways for all students;
  • Keeping class sizes as low as possible;
  • Continuing to attract and retain high-quality staff;
  • Addressing the most urgent maintenance needs at Webb Middle School.

Ballot Question Two - Facilities Project

Invest $14 million in the Reedsburg Area High School to:

  • Renovate and update equipment in the Construction Trades, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Agriculture spaces;
  • Add a new greenhouse and provide space for new and innovative programs in Agriculture, Animal Science, and Natural Resources;
  • Renovate the library, large group room, and two adjacent classrooms to create the new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship;
  • Lightly renovate the cafeteria / commons.

Why?

Like many Wisconsin school districts, the School District of Reedsburg does not receive adequate funding from the state to keep pace with inflationary increases. Added operating funds will allow the District to continue on its upward trajectory. Renovated Career & Technology Education spaces at RAHS will allow the District to continue to build rigorous career pathways and academic programs for ALL students.
