A Message from our Principals
Schools May Be Closed,
But Learning Never Stops!
After some record-setting January warmth, February is biting back. At the time of writing this, our low this morning was -20 degrees! Snow, wind, and even a polar vortex can’t stop the excitement February will bring.

We have teachers taking our students to the Hartje School Forest and White Mound County Park this month. Our Trout in the Classroom project runs throughout the month as well. The Regional Spelling Bee is February 5. The 5th-grade music performance has been rescheduled and will have split performances this year--see below for that information. The K-3 concert is February 19, and the 4th-grade concert is February 25. Lastly, RIFF Night will be held at Pineview on March 5 with the theme of “Catch A Good Book”. We are blessed to have dedicated staff who provide different types of learning experiences for our students.

I read an article recently that compared learning outcomes with different home and environmental factors. The doctor and author of this article stated that there were three common themes correlated to increased learning: 8-9 hours of sleep, 1 hour of physical activity, and less than 2 hours of screen time per day. With half the school year already in the books, this provides a solid reminder of things we can do at home to set the stage of learning for our kids.

Yours in education,

Mr. Beyer & Mr. Frey
