Giving Back through an App
RoundUp is a fundraising app that makes giving back incredibly easy. Our Executive Director can vouch for how easy it is:

"Since December I've donated over $120 using the RoundUp App and can't believe how seamless it is...every purchase I made on my registered debit card was "rounded up" to the nearest dollar then donated to HERS. Such an easy (and painless) way to give back!" ~ Tina Fernandez Steckler

Ready to give back, too? Visit https://www.roundupapp.com/, click on the "Find a Nonprofit" tab, and search for HERS by name or use our Federal Tax ID #: 943309906.

And a note to business owners: consider making HERS your beneficiary nonprofit. Register and designate HERS as the beneficiary of your customers' "round up" donations! In doing so, you'll empower community members to make a difference with each purchase.

HERS Team Member Highlight
We welcomed Lorena Oliva to our team in January and we're thrilled! As Administrative Specialist, Lorena is tasked with handling a wide range of operations and human resources projects, donor relations support, and much more. Lorena has a "can do," unflappable, and thoughtful approach to her work. If you visit our Fremont location, be sure to say hello!

About Lorena:

Born in El Salvador and raised by her loving godparents, Lorena moved to the Bay Area at a young age and has lived in Alameda County for over 20 years with her daughter and husband.

Lorena has worked for nonprofit organizations for most of her professional career, most recently with SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments) in the capacity of operations, project management, and human resources.

In her free time, Lorena enjoys spending quality time with her family and has recently started an online business, “Lore’s Sweet Treats,” where she sells made to order cakes, cookies, and other delicious goodies. Look for Lorena on Instagram @loressweettreats.

Lorena's other interests include Corgis. She fell in love with the breed after attending Corgi-Con at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach and hopes to be a Corgi Mom one day!
The Tri-Valley SOCKs beloved The Bras for the Cause Walk will return Saturday, May 7th. HERS will be have an info table and has donated a sweet giveaway for every goody bag. Our Executive Director has also donated a beautiful breakfast-themed raffle basket.

TVS is volunteer-run and this annual event (sadly, its last) benefits Bay Area breast cancer support organizations, including HERS! To date, the TVSOCKs has donated over 2 MILLION dollars!

This much-anticipated walk will start and end at Pleasanton's Amador Valley Community Park. Other event elements include a costume contest, community info booths, entertainment, and giveaways. Questions? Check out their FAQ page and be sure to REGISTER TODAY!
