2017 Southwest Indigenous Foodways Gathering & Arizona Small-Scale Producers Forum

Don't miss this gathering of farmers, chefs, and community organizers on December 6, 2017. The event will feature hands-on workshops and presentations on food, seeds, agriculture, ranching, traditional farming methods, health, culinary youth mentorship, food sovereignty and the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The forum is free for Indigenous Peoples, POC, residents of Ajo, youth (ages 14-24), and agricultural producers.

The second edition of Good Laws, Good Food: Putting Local Food Policy to Work for Our Communities provides resources for local food advocates, and highlights Double Up Food Bucks as an innovative local program. Heart of Isaac Community Center opens doors to Maryvale community members 

At the beginning of this month, the Isaac School District opened it's doors to their new Heart of Isaac Community Center for the school district families and the community of Maryvale. 

This was a community-driven effort that was the result of the amazing leadership of Sarah Chavez-Gonzalez, the Maryvale Promotoras, Valley of the Sun United Way, and the Maricopa County Public Health Preventive Health Collaborative. Integrating health, social services, and education in innovative ways such as this results in positive outcomes for all.
