May 16, 2025 - Issue #145 | | Celebrating our Retirees and Years of Service
This week, Pierz Schools honored our retirees and years-of-service staff during our annual celebration event. With a combined 74 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Denise Gruber and Mrs. Deanna Fuhrman were recognized as they prepare to retire from their roles at Pioneer Elementary. Both shared heartfelt reflections on the importance of family support and the strong sense of tradition that has shaped our school into the special place it is today.
During the celebration, George shared a few words about our head of transportation, Tracy Voigt, who celebrated 20 years of service at Pierz Schools, highlighting the many hats she wears in our school community. Whether she’s greeting students and visitors at the high school front desk, helping in the kitchen, leading afterschool student activities like Magic Club, or simply being a dependable presence, Tracy exemplifies dedication. Her consistency, reliability, and work ethic do not go unnoticed—she is always here, always available, and always making a difference.

Tractor Day for May 21: Take Two | | This week brought a slight snafu in the annual Drive Your Tractor to School Day parade. Because of the congestion in town and safety concerns for all involved, the parade schedule for Wednesday of this week was delayed until Wednesday, May 21. We appreciate all the students and farm families who worked hard to get their tractors here, and we are looking forward to the parade next week! The route will come south on Kamnic in front of the school then turn east and go along Park Avenue, ending at Litke's Vet Clinic. | | Summer Pump: The Pioneer Power Program

Summer EBT is now SUN Bucks. SUN Bucks is an income-based food support program that provides families with $120 per eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out for the summer. Most eligible children are automatically enrolled. When children no longer receive free meals at school, their households might need extra help to put food on the table. The SUN Bucks program is designed to meet this seasonal need.
