Students Show Gratitude on Veterans Day

At the annual Pierz Schools Veterans Day program, veterans and their families were welcomed to the MAC with flags of thanks as all students were invited to write their gratitude on an index card to display for this installation. Headed by Healy art teacher Ms. Jayne Hotaling, the display included thank you notes from students in grades K-12. Thank you to all who made this year's Veterans Day Program another honorable and memorable tradition, and thank you to all those who have served, who continue to serve, and all the families who support our veterans.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Students in Mrs. Gotvald's Greenhouse classes have already caught some Christmas spirit mode as they learned the fine art of wreath-making from our on-staff professional. Mrs. Tax's Landscaping students will be gathering materials and making holiday porch pots next week.

Happenings at Pioneer Elementary

Bringing joy to another generation

Mrs. Hoheisel, Mrs. Andres, and Ms. Kloeckl's first graders took a quick trip to the Pierz Villa on Tuesday. They hand-delivered Thanksgiving and Christmas-themed art projects they created for the residents to enjoy through the Holiday season. The first-graders also sang a Thanksgiving song for the residents. Smiles all around!

Learning about government from the mayor

Pioneer Elementary 4th graders in Mrs. Sadlovsky's ASPIRE class were honored to have the mayor of Pierz, Mr. John Perleberg, visit their classroom this week. He described his duties as the mayor of Pierz and answered their questions. They learned about things the city works on such as parks, safety, and many other operations in the city. They also learned how being on the student council next year might be a bit like being on the city council.

The students are also working on writing an essay for a contest about what they would do if they were the Mayor for a Day. There will be a $100 winner for the State of Minnesota and a $10 winner for the City of Pierz.  Students enjoyed the guest speaker and we appreciate him taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit Pioneer Elementary. Thank you Mayor Perleberg!

Mr. Otte's Annual Buck Contest

Congratulations to all the Pioneer Elementary students who harvested their bucks this year and entered Mr. Otte's Buck Contest. Each year, Principal Otte draws a random name from all participants and donates a custom-made antler mount—made by Mr. Otte himself.

And the winner for 2023...Drew Sadlovsky! Congratulations to all the hunters.
