Pierz Schools receives grant
Compeer Financial granted the Pierz Schools Ag Department with 4 oil-immersion microscopes through the Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America. These microscopes are capable of magnifying up to 1000x compared to regular microscopes which magnify 40-100x. Using these oil-immersion scopes, students can see plant and animal cell structures. They can even see bacterial shapes such as spherical, rod, or spiral and use these shapes to identify the bacteria. These microscopes strengthen the students’ education and knowledge of the strong relationship between science and agriculture. View the entire Compeer press release on our District News Page.
From Left to Right- Superintendent George Weber, Tiffany Dingman with Compeer, Nicole Skroch with Compeer, school board member Matt Hoheisel, School Board Clerk Steve Boser, School Board Chair Ashley Toops, School Board Vice Chair Rick Sczublewski, Ag teacher and grant writer Pat Tax, and School Board Treasurer Marvin Thomas.

Healy Junior High Service Day
One of the Vision Statements for Pierz Schools students is, "Respect all people, all resources and model responsible citizenship".
To this end, 7th and 8th graders spent Monday afternoon serving the residents of Pierz during their Junior High Service Day. Students raked, bagged, and loaded leaves for our neighbors in need. Special thanks to employees at the City of Pierz who drove trucks to our clean-up sites so students could load up their collections, staff that helped the students, and the senior high EPIC members who also helped manage the clean-up crews!

Students in the agricultural classes have implemented a Seed Exchange program by putting this old card catalog to excellent use. Each drawer is filled with seeds— free and ready for the taking. Do you have packs of seeds lying around? Bring them in!
The Seed Exchange 'card catalog' is located near the courtyard doors inside Healy High School - accessible to all our hallwalkers. For questions, contact Brenda Gotvald bgotvald@pierzschools.org or Pat Tax ptax@pierzschools.org

Happenings at Pioneer Elementary
Each year, the Pioneer Elementary Student Council picks a charity for which to raise money. Throughout this year, Pioneer Elementary students will collect Pop Tops for Veterans. With less than two months of the program underway, take a look at the dedication to this cause by our elementary students and their families (some of those tubs are already FULL)!
Which local veterans organization will receive the donation is still undecided: but with this much generosity, we may be fortunate to donate to several organizations.
Feel good story incoming: when Pioneer Elementary raised funds for the local veterans home, Harding Place, a few years ago, one particular gentleman who served in Vietnam and now resides at Harding Place was brought to tears when he talked about how the generous donations from our students and families afforded them all steak dinners 'with all the fixins'.

Openings for Early Childhood Family Education
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes provide opportunities for families to connect and build relationships with other families of young children. A typical class has an interactive circle time to welcome participants, activities for parents and children to experience together, and a short time for parents to visit while their children are with a child educator.
Classes meet once per week for 90 minutes for 6 weeks. Classes are open to families, so you can bring all your children ages birth - 5.
It's not too late to join a fall ECFE group! We still have just a few slots available for our Thursday morning (8:30am & 10:30am) and Thursday afternoon (4pm) groups! Join the fun starting in November. https://forms.gle/7uy4VJXkxWADcScCA
