Here's to the most interesting year yet!
This week, teachers are back in their classrooms, getting ready for the start of the most interesting and one of the most challenging years yet. And, they are doing it with style (some pretty snazzy face masks), grace, patience, and humor. Teacher workshop week included COVID safety protocols, distance learning training, and much more. After nearly six months of empty buildings, we are SO ready to see our students again!

While this will undoubtedly be one of the more challenging school starts, we also have a unique opportunity to once again come together as a community. To help one another. To appreciate our time with friends. To show unprecedented patience, grace, adaptability and resilience. We will come out on the other side. It will be over. And once we are on the other side, we will be able to look back with pride knowing we supported one another along the way.
First -- the Nurse...
IMPORTANT: New District Confidential Health Form
We are updating our confidential health forms to an online version so we can quickly and easily access your child's medical history and current needs. We need this form filled out for EACH child in your home attending Pierz Schools, PK-12, regardless of their medical history. Click here: Confidential Health Form - one per child.

For more information, please visit the District Nurse webpage.
When to Stay Home from School
Please notify the school that your child will be absent and include the specific symptoms your child has. The nurse will follow up with you. Children should be kept home from school if they have any of the following symptoms:
They are exhibiting ONE of these symptoms: New or changing cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, fever of 100 or higher, recent contact with confirmed positive case of COVID-19, household members with symptoms of COVID symptoms.

They are are exhibiting TWO of these: Fatigue, muscle or body aches, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, congestion or runny nose.
Parent Pick Up, Walkers and Busing
Parent Pick-Up: This year, we will be using the Remind App/Messaging service to allow parents to message to the school when they are in the parking lot to pick up their child. This will eliminate the need for parents and younger siblings to come into the building at the end of each day. More information and links will be distributed to pick-up families during Open House or links will be emailed to you.
Walkers: In-town students to the East of Highway 25 will be walking to school. We would love to help schedule volunteer parents to walk with kids to and from school. Let us know if you are interested! In-town students to the West of Hwy 25 will have 2-3 bus pick up points. Those families will be notified of these spots and times.

Students: Be ready for your first day back!
We are so excited to have students in our empty classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, stages, and courts! To keep everyone here and healthy, we need your help:
  • Wear your mask. We know it's not cool. It's a pain. We get it. It's hard for us, too. But, if it helps us all stay in school and healthy--it's worth it. If you can't wear a mask due to health reasons, please call the district nurse. Failure to wear a mask will result in disciplinary action.
  • Socially distance as much as possible--keep in your 6ft bubble as much as space allows. Not forever. But for now!
  • Wash hands frequently. We are working to install touch-less faucets and dispensers.
  • There will be hand sanitizer stations set up around the buildings. Use these when you can't wash hands or moving between areas.
  • Bring your water bottle! To further eliminate possible contamination, drinking fountains will be usable with water bottles only.
  • Don't forget to pack your patience, forgiveness, empathy, humor and resilience--let your light SHINE!
