Welcome back-- new spaces, new faces
It's been a flurry of activity and effort on the part of staff, administration and construction workers--but the new construction is (pretty much) finished at Pierz Schools! What an amazing transformation in just the last few months. Pictured: the new commons/lunch area at Healy High School. Healy Highlights
Seventh graders welcomed by WEB staff and students at Orientation Day
Remember your first days at Healy? Frantically finding your classrooms, getting lost, running out of time between bells, and the dreaded FORGOTTEN LOCKER COMBINATION?! These are the things nightmares are made of. But no more!

Before school starts in September, staff and students who are members of the Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) team, host a 7th grade Orientation Day at Healy. Students get to meet their teachers, find their classrooms, and even practice a full day of classes with a mock-bell schedule. The day includes get-to-know-you games, food, and allows students and parents to feel good about their first days at the 'big' school.
Seniors kick off their year with coffee and donuts at sunrise
Seniors at Healy had an idea: let's see the sunrise on our first day together as seniors, and watch the sunset on our last day. Part one happened bright and early Tuesday morning, compliments of the Taylor family. Here's to the class of 2020!
Pioneer Elementary School News
Students in Mrs. Beckie Przybilla's 4th grade class kicked off their year with teamwork, cooperation, and communication challenges, all while figuring out a challenging STEM problem!
Pioneer Elementary's media center will get a mini-makeover this year with help from local accounting firm, RTO CPA (Ritters, Thompson & Olson). The firm is moving to a new building this fall in Pierz, and have graciously donated the reception desk used at their previous location. A big 'Thank you!' to the staff and owners of RTO CPA!

**Staff Spotlight **
This week, we are shining a light on a couple new(ish) faces at Pierz Schools!
Scott Herold, Middle School Counselor
My name is Scott Herold. It is with great pleasure and gratitude to introduce myself as the District’s Middle School Counselor supporting all students in grades 5-8.

My role with Pierz Public Schools is to support our 5th-8th grade student success in three areas: academic, personal/social/emotional, and career. To support both buildings, I will have two offices--one office in the high school main office to support 7th and 8th grade students, and another office in the new building area near the 5th and 6th grade classrooms. In addition, I plan to coach Pioneer activities in the District. More about Mr. Herold
Tony Andres, Healy Assistant Principal
My name is Tony Andres. I am a proud Pierz Healy graduate and am very pleased to be back in the area to serve the students of Healy High and the community as the Assistant High School Principal.

The last 6 years, I served as Moose Lake’s Athletic Director for the Moose Lake/Willow River athletic cooperative. During my time in Moose Lake I enrolled at Minnesota State University, Moorhead where I received my Masters in Educational Leadership, as well as my K-12 Principal, District Superintendent, & Community Education Licensures.

I am very proud to be working in a strong and vibrant community. I look forward to the challenge of keeping Pierz Public Schools as one of the best districts in the area!  More about Mr. Andres
