Parking, drop-off and pick-up
With construction complete, we’d like to ensure our parents and community know the best practices when dropping off, picking up, and parking at Pierz Schools. Click the photo to view entrances and explanations to ensure a safe and timely drop-off and pick up, and clear up confusion on where to park for sports and other activities at the school. Spanish III/IV classes use games to demonstrate learning
(Left) Students created their own 'Heads Up!' game to learn Spanish vocabulary words and phrases.
(Right) Spanish III & IV students practiced their spatial reasoning skills while playing Rumis. Rumis is an educational game that combines the building ideas of Tetris with models from authentic ancient Incan pyramids and towers. ¡Qué inteligente! Note: it was also reported that students forgot they were learning and were having (gasp!) fun in school.
Pioneer Elementary School News
Students in Mrs. Ruprecht's 3rd grade class took full advantage of the beautiful weather this week, taking their learning outside! Students created the solar system and demonstrated how each planet rotates and orbits the sun.
The Pioneer PTO kicked off the year celebrating students who took time to read over the summer. Students who turned in reading sheets were in the drawing for big prizes--including bikes, hoverboards, and sports equipment. Way to go kids--and thank you Pioneer PTO. Next up: the big fall FUNDRAISER...stayed tuned!
**Staff Spotlight **
This week, we are shining a light on a couple new faces at Pierz Schools!
Michelle Mennis, Elementary Music Teacher
Hi there! My name is Michelle Mennis, the new elementary music teacher at Pioneer Elementary School. I teach K-3 elementary music along with 5th & 6th grade choir.

One may ask…what brought you to Pierz? Through the Master’s Degree Program at Northern State University I was fortunate to be a part of the program with both Mr. Pohland and Mr. Mathwig, band directors in Pierz. When the elementary music job opened up, they both shared with me the amazing things the Pierz School District offers. Not only would I get to be a part of a dynamite music team and department, but I would get to be a part of a wonderful district. One thing I love about Pierz is how kind everyone is, everywhere you go within the school and community. It definitely makes me feel like I’m “at home” and feels like a little piece of North Dakota came with me to Pierz. I look forward to attending events within the school and community along with meeting several new faces!   More about Ms. Mennis
Jennifer Swenson, 2nd Grade Teacher
Hello! I am Jennifer Swenson, and I am teaching second grade this year at Pioneer. I am so excited to be teaching in this wonderful community! I was raised in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. I went on to study at St. Cloud State University and received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, I moved down to the Twin Cities.

It had been a goal of my husband and myself to move back to the Central Minnesota area and this summer we were able to make that happen. This led me to Pierz and I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity. More about Mrs. Swenson
