Leadership Changes at PRMS for the Coming School Year

Welcome Back Ms. Miller
In February 2016, I accepted a special assignment as the Standards-Based Learning Coordinator to assist the district in moving forward with standards-based learning.  This 18-month position has ended and I am so excited to be returning to PRMS.  During my time away, I was able to learn from and collaborate with staff from all over the district about developing, facilitating and assessing learning in a standards-based environment.  I also had the opportunity to assist in the implementation of Empower to support a standards-based educational model.  This experience will serve us well in partnering with staff, students, and families as we continue our mission of Exceptional, Personalized Learning at PRMS.

I want to thank Megan Blazek for the outstanding leadership she has shown as Interim Principal in continuing to support learning and guide innovation at Pioneer Ridge.  Megan had excellent partners in Austin Tollerson and Ryan Meulemans.  Pioneer Ridge is a better school today than it was 18 months ago, and this outstanding leadership team is responsible for guiding that work.  My commitment is to continue their work to further strengthen our learning community.

I look forward to meeting both incoming 6th and 7th grade students and families in the fall.  I was in the building for the last few weeks of the school year and marveled at how much maturity and growth our incoming 8th graders are showing.  For those of you who are new to me, I served as the Pioneer Ridge Principal for 8 years prior to my special assignment.  I know the amazing staff, parents and students that are Pioneer Ridge, and it is truly an honor to be back to serve this community.  GO TRAILBLAZERS!!!

A Permanent Welcome for Mr. Tollerson
This spring Megan Blazek was presented with an opportunity to lead Boeckman Middle School in Farmington and began serving as their Principal in July.  We look forward to a collaborative working relationship with Mrs. Blazek and the Farmington school district.  With her departure, I am excited to announce that Mr. Tollerson will now serve as the permanent Assistant Principal at Pioneer Ridge.

Austin Tollerson has been with PRMS for the last year and a half and is excited to be continuing to serve with us as our Assistant Principal!  He brings 16 years of experience in education including teaching, counseling, coaching and administration.  Next year he will begin his fifth year with Eastern Carver County Schools, previously serving as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Chanhassen High School.  With a resolute focus on our district's mission of exceptional, personalized learning, and an unwavering dedication to supporting all students, Austin is an excellent addition to the Pioneer Ridge community and we are fortunate to have him as our own now!

WEB
WEB Program for Incoming 6th Graders at PRMS
As you may know, Pioneer Ridge Middle School participates in the nationwide WEB Program, an organization whose purpose is to help sixth graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of middle school.  WEB, which stands for "Where Everybody Belongs," welcomes and prepares sixth graders by assigning them an 8th grade WEB Leader as a mentor during this first year.  This WEB Leader is a responsible older student who was selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and positive leader.  WEB Leaders will run 6th grade orientation on the first day of school.  Your student can also expect a phone call from their WEB Leader towards the end of the summer in which the WEB Leader will introduce themselves and explain a bit about the first day of school.  Thanks for your support of this exciting program!

PTO
Can You Help? PRMS PTO Needs You!
We would love to have you join PRMS PTO! We have several active 8th grade moms who will be "graduating" out of PRMS in the spring of 2018. We are in need of a few leaders to learn the ropes and help grow the PTO.  We assist the school with parent communication, organize a small fundraiser and meet 5 times a year.  We would love to have YOU! Please e-mail us at prmspto@gmail.com with any questions you may have!

Thank you and welcome to PRMS to all our incoming 6th grade parents!
