Pipeline merges with Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub
Over the summer, the Albany Chamber of Commerce’s Pipeline to Jobs program merged with the Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub. This merger coincided with the hiring of a new director for the Hub, Sarah Whiteside. You will learn more about Sarah further down in the newsletter.

This newly formed collaborative between the STEM-CTE Hub and Pipeline expands the Pipeline, which through collaboration with LBCC and other education partners, provides a bridge from K-12 to post-secondary education and careers in CTE-STEM, to rural and under-served populations in Linn and Benton counties. The partnership will allow the career connected learning activities that have thus far focused mostly on Albany schools and industries truly to expand to include all industries and school districts in the two-county region. This new collaboration will create a truly regional, sustainable career-connected-learning effort to address inequities and enhance the economic vitality of the region.

Read more about the merger on our newly relaunched website where you can also learn more about our mission, vision, goals, and strategies for our region. Please feel free to contact us at any time.
Meet our new Director!
Hello, Mid-Valley friends & supporters-

I am delighted to join Chris, the other Hubs across the state, and YOU – our partners, friends, and champions! I come to this work with a background as an educator, parent, small business owner, community volunteer, and have called the Mid-Valley home for 20+ years. This first month with MVSCH has been a busy time, working to learn the systems, relationships, and define our strategic plans – all while in this time of myriad challenges and an ever-changing landscape.
That said, Chris, the Collaborative Board, and I are looking forward to a number of programs and opportunities to partner and serve our community. We hope to soon launch our newly-rebranded MVSCH website, social media, and other channels of communication to keep everyone up to date on STEM and CTE events and engagements for all ages. In the meantime, please reach out and say hello! I look forward to meeting and working with and for you all.

Be well,

Sarah Whiteside
Manufacturing Day
MFG Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders. MFG Day empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.

In past years, we’ve been able to host tours, an open house on LBCC’s campus, and other events. Unfortunately this year, that’s not possible, so we are going virtual.

While we’re not able to host an in-person event this year, we’ve still decided to kick things up a notch and do not just a one-day virtual event, but a whole month’s worth of activities.

We’ll be posting more details soon, but in the meantime, save the date of our kickoff event: Friday, October 2nd.
