Here's what's new on the Pipestone County 4-H website this month!
Market Beef ID Deadline & Weigh In

All market steers, market heifers and dairy steers must be identified in 4HOnline by February 15.  An optional weigh in will be held on February 3.  All market animals need to be identified with a MN 4-H animal ear tag which can be purchased at the weigh in or at the Extension office.

Leaders Council January Meeting

The January Leaders Council meeting is right around the corner.  Join us on Monday, January 22, at the Courthouse Community Room.  The 2018 fundraiser will be our main topic of discussion.

Ambassador Holiday Event

The Ambassador Holiday event to Air Madness will be lots of fun!!  It will be followed by our January meeting on the next day!   

Project Survey

All Pipestone County 4-H families are being asked to take a couple of minutes and complete the survey regarding 4-H project exploration and what type of workshops 4-H'ers would be interested in attending. 
 
Apply Now to be a 2018 Camp Counselor or DOC

SW 4-H Summer Camp will be held June 18-22, 2018.  We are looking for camp counselors in grades 9 and  up to help lead camp.  We are also looking for a college student to be our Director of Counselors!  Application deadline is January 17.

Are you a Pipestone County 4-H'er looking at continuing your education?  Be sure to look into the Pipestone County 4-H Scholarship, awarded to two    4-H'ers annually.

Santa's Workshop Recap

Wow!!  We had a great turnout at the 2017 Santa's Workshop.  Way to go Pipestone County 4-H Ambassadors and Pipestone Area Chamber of Commerce!

Sign Up for the SW BLU Regional Youth Leadership Workshop

This workshop is for youth in grades 6-12 and is planned and facilitated by the Minnesota 4-H State Ambassadors.  This year's event will be held at SMSU in Marshall on Saturday, February 24.  Registration deadline is February 1!

4-H Volunteers - Sign Up to Attend the SW Winter Project Leaders Training During BLU
An exciting day is being planned on Saturday, February 24, from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm at SMSU in Marshall.  This is open to all screened adult volunteers and will run in conjunction with BLU.

Participate in 2018 Project Bowls!
Project Bowl information is now available?  Form a team and participate in one of the four regional Minnesota 4-H Project Bowls across the state. Check out the website for rules, resources and more to get your team started!

2018 Southwest Animal Science Challenge
The 2018 Southwest Animal Science Challenge will be held on Saturday, February 17, in Wabasso.  This event will include horse and livestock Project Bowl competitions, hands-on skill-a-thon stations, and workshops on a variety of topics.  4-H'ers can attend as a Project Bowl team or as an individual.

Andrea Ruesch Regional 4-H Scholarship
The family of Andrea Ruesch established a 4-H scholarship with the Minnesota 4-H Foundation in memory of her dedication and contributions to the Minnesota 4-H program.  Based on the family's belief in positive youth development, the focus of this scholarship is on demonstrated learning through hands-on experience and using what you have learned to help others.  A minimum of four scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded annually.

Associate Dean and State 4-H Director, Dorothy Freeman, celebrates the connection between 4-H and healthy choices in young people.  Two 4-H members' stories are featured and you are invited to share your own healthy living story.

The newest in the Discover Minnesota 4-H video series details the Science of Agriculture Challenge.  Check out this amazing learning opportunity.  Who know, maybe you'll be the next recipient of a $1,000 college scholarship!

Announcing 2018 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge for High School Youth
Starting in 2018, the 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge will include high school youth in grades 9 to one year after high school.  The 2018 challenge will be to "Plant a Seed and Water the Seed".

October 1 was the beginning of a new 4-H year and it is time to re-enroll!  Youth cannot participate in 4-H activities unless they are enrolled.  Online enrollment is quick and easy.  We encourage you to re-enroll as soon as possible.  Check out all the information here. 

Minnesota 4-H youth in grades 9-13 are invited to strengthen their communication, leadership and citizenship skills at a national level by attending Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. from June 23-30, 2018.  Pre-application materials will be available online January 10, 2018.
 
The Extension Committee of the Association of Minnesota Counties (AMC) will select two 4-H club projects that will each receive awards of $500 in recognition for their contributions and service to their communities.  The application deadline is January 22.
