In this week's edition:
Working through VISION 2025
What is a vision?

What is a vision? A vision focuses on tomorrow and what the organization desire to be. In the case of Shepherd ISD, we define tomorrow in many ways, one of which is our vision timeline. Vision 2025. We have pictured our desired state in 5 years, and many aspects must come true for our vision to be realized. First and foremost, our vision includes ALL. All parents, All staff, All community members, and All students. To see Vision 2025 come alive, ALL of us must understand our roles and responsibilities.

PLC Team of the Week

Shepherd I.S.D. would like to thank our Shepherd Primary First-Grade Team for their unwavering commitment to collaboration! Even through Covid, our first-grade team is dedicated to student success! We are so proud of the work the team has put in this year to ensure every student, every minute, every day! #Bettertogether #PirateStrong
Shepherd I.S.D. would like to thank the following educators for their unwavering commitment to teaching and student learning!
Dr. Melissa Dean joined our pirate family two years ago to teach IPC, Biology, and Plant/Soil science at Shepherd High School. Even though she has a PhD in Cellular Molecular Biology, she decided to make a life change and share her love of science with the young people of our community. She is a passionate teacher that brings science to life in her classroom. If you are having a bad day, just head on down to her classroom. With her brightness and quirky sense of humor, she will brighten your day. Dr. Dean is a valuable member of our high school community and we are truly blessed to have her as a teacher.
Winston Churchill said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” We are seeing the difference that Mrs. Banks' attitude is making here at SMS. The students in her class are doing amazing and reaching goals at each CBA and Checkpoint.

As if teaching in 2020 wasn't hard enough, Ms. Cynthia Lee of 4th grade has taken every obstacle with a smile. Ms. Lee transitioned as a first year teacher and has taken on being team lead for 4th grade while teaching an entirely new content. She helps her team wherever needed, she is well organized, and builds great relationships with students. On top of tackling a new content, she has implemented guided reading in her classroom effortlessly with the help of Mrs. Owens. We could not be more thankful to have her on our team! Thank for your commitment to Shepherd ISD students!
Samantha Salas is a paraprofessional at SPS. She has stepped up in trying times and gone above and beyond for staff and students. Sam takes initiative to assist in modifying schedules to accommodate the needs of the campus. She often covers multiple lunch duties when we are short subs. Recently, Ms. Salas took both the early and late shifts to distribute Chromebooks to students. She has a "get things done" attitude which has been a huge blessing to the SPS campus. Ms. Salas accomplishes all these tasks with a smile and a positive attitude.

Carolyn Caldwell is one of our High School School Nutrition staff members. She always has her head down and her hand moving. She works diligently behind the scenes to assure that meals served to students are produced with perfection. She has an unwavering commitment to fueling our students for each days learning.
Myrlene King is our accounts payable specialist. She works diligently each day to process payments to our vendors in a timely manner. However, her role is so much more than this. She greets everyone each day with a smile and kind words and takes the time to support not only staff but our vendors with Focus and Integrity.

COVID Updates
In accordance with TEA required notifications and to keep our parents, staff, and community informed, Shepherd ISD will be sending email notifications to parents and staff for each on-campus occurrence of a positive COVID case.

Shepherd ISD will personally contact individuals who may have come in close contact (as defined by TEA) with a lab-confirmed positive case on campus. If you are NOT directly contacted, you are NOT someone who was identified as having close contact with a positive individual.
