In this week's edition:

Shepherd I.S.D. Spotlight

During this week SISD celebrated National School Psychology Week (NSPW) to highlight the important work school psychologists and other educators do to help all students thrive. Shepherd ISD has the best school psychologists who encourage everyone to engage in best practices and advocate for children's access to mental health and learning supports.

We appreciate you,
Shannon Wallace and Mary Anne Perhamus

"Shepherd ISD is very fortunate to have 2 Licensed Specialists in School Psychology. Shannon Wallace, our Special Education Director is a longtime LSSP who is well respected by her staff and peers. She has been an LSSP for 21 years and a special education director for 12 years. She is always ready to help the students and staff of Shepherd ISD.  Mary Anne Perhamus is our district LSSP. She has been an LSSP for 2 years. She can be seen in the schools helping teachers and students in many ways. Shannon and Mary Anne do extensive psychological testing and support our students in many ways. Mary Anne also does counseling services for our students in Special Education. Both ladies are amazing and greatly appreciated!" -D.Roberson

The SIS principals showed their appreciation to staff by leaving a note on their vehicles before they left for the weekend.
This week’s Staff Spotlight is our 8th grade Math teacher, Ms. Gabriela Ramirez. She always has a smile on her face when greeted. Everyone that knows her loves her. Ms. Ramirez possess all the characteristics of a great teacher. She respects her students, sets high expectations, yet warm and caring and has a love for learning. Ms. Ramirez works tirelessly to make her classroom and instruction top notch for her students. And because of her hard work, she has CBA scores that have consistently been in the 80’s & 90’s. We are truly blessed to have her here at SMS.
A Game Changer has many definitions is SISD. Coach Fourman is changing the game not only on the field with our athletes, but also in his support of our Transportation department. Earlier this year during the peak of our COVID cases, Coach Fourman worked additional hours to support making sure our students were still able to get to and from school. Thank you Coach Fourman for always putting kids first. SISD appreciates you!
Ms. Judy Rollins is a game changer at SISD, she made sure while we had students late into the evening recently due to HWY59 being shutdown that our students and staff received dinner!

Thank you Seniors for your hard wok and dedication to our Pirate Family! We will miss you! #PirateNation
HD Green becomes the 1st QB to rush for 1,000+ yards in a single season for Shepherd. He finished the season with 1,046 yards and 14 TDS. We’re super proud of this young man!!

Soon it will be time for our Fall Meal at Shepherd Intermediate School. We are again following several “soft opening” procedures to ensure that we can continue such events.
Pre-sale of meal tickets and printing of badges will begin on Monday November 8, 2021 and will end on Thursday November 11, 2021. All visitors are strongly encouraged to pre-purchase tickets for the meal and get their badges printed in advance.
To pre-purchase tickets, please bring a photo ID and $5 per ticket to the SIS front office. An ID must be produced for EACH purchased tickets and/or get your badge pre-printed for the event. Although we will sell tickets the day of the event, the process will be slow and will require lots of patience with our staff.
Shepherd ISD families and community,
You may have seen some changes happening in the Shepherd Middle School parking lot since this past summer. After assessing traffic along S. Byrd we have found that changing the traffic flow during arrival and dismissal will better serve the safety of our students, staff and community.
Effective January 1, 2022 the traffic pattern at Shepherd Middle School will be as indicated in the diagram below.
