 Teens on Stage presents

      "The Pirates of Penzance"

March 26-29

Join us March 25-29 as Northern Star Theatre Co. presents in partnership with Haack Orthodontics, Jason DeRousseau and RE/MAX Advantage, for comedy, singing and sword fighting as area  teens bring Gilbert and Sullivan's much enjoyed "The Pirates of Penzance or The Slave to Duty" to life. On the "billowy waters" off the coast of Cornwall meet Frederic (Mitchell Dvorak) who is celebrating the end of his apprenticeship to the fierce Pirates of Penzance led by the dashing Pirate King (Craig Louis). Although the apprenticeship was made in error by his nursemaid Ruth (Maggie Klonowski), Frederic has grown to love the pirates. He is set ashore where he immediately abandons forty-seven year old Ruth for the lovely young ladies he meets. Being proper young ladies, they all refuse to help a single young man except for Mabel (Keira Stager). They are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the pirates who decide they will kidnap all the daughters and "marry them with impunity". The daughters are rescued by their adopted father, Major General Stanley (Michael Lindau) who claims he is an orphan. Since the pirates refuse to take action against orphans ("we are orphans ourselves"), General Stanley and his daughters go free.

The General begins to regret his "elegant fiction" of lying to the pirates; in the meantime the Pirate King and Ruth have found a loophole in the contract between Frederic and the Pirates. They appeal to Frederic's "sense of duty", and he regretfully tells Mabel he must rejoin the pirates. Meanwhile the constabulary has been called and The Sergeant (Garry Haack) arrives with his company of constables to confront the pirates. This leads to much screaming and shouting, clashing of swords and night sticks, and general mayhem. To learn how Frederic's dilemma is resolved and everyone achieves a happy ending, make your reservation with NSTC either online (www.northernstartheatre-co.org) or call in your reservation at 715-736-4444. Tickets are $14 and all seats are reserved. Performance time Wednesday-Saturday is 7 p.m. and the final performance on Sunday, March 29 is at 2 p.m.

Other cast members include the pirates: Paul Adams, Caleb Anderson, Tyler McBain, Matt Birhle, Jonothan Dobosz, Trenton Hom, Logan Jilek, Lucas LaVick, Bennett McCann, and Dillon Shepherd. The General's lovely daughters include Hannah Farm, Anna Hamner, Bethany Johnson, Kate Louis, Melody Morse, Maeve Myers, Chelsea Pumala, Arianna Rataj, Teagan Stager, Becca Swanson, and Isabel Thurston. The constables are played by Jaquon Amick, Arsen Crisler, Michael Duerkop, Illeana Flores, Lorelei Jilek, Anna Johnston, Emily Kay, Rosemarie Olson, Gavin Orson, Stephanie Schissel and John Zook.
