NEWS FROM THE COMMUNITY GARDENS
May 17, 2019

Dear Gardeners,

Vegetable and flower seedlings arrived this afternoon for tomorrow's plant sale! We plan to be at the garden from 8 a.m. to noon. Please stop in to buy your starts (or a few hanging baskets). Here is a list of what's available: Lots of varieties of tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, lettuce, onions, scallions, basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, marigolds. No worries if you miss the sale, there will be another round of seedlings available next weekend!

Schedule for new garden beds
Although we installed several rows of new garden beds this week, we are still working to get the remaining beds in place. We appreciate your patience as we fill beds with soil and compost, run water lines, and rake out gravel pathways. This work would not be possible without our amazing team of volunteers.

Recap from previous bulletin
Large paper bags of organic straw is available for use by community gardeners, priced at $4.00 per bag. Please leave the empty bags in the shed for reuse.

Note
I will be welcoming a new grandchild next week and will be away from the garden and office from May 19 to 24. In my absence, please direct your questions to ken.kleinpeter@pitneymeadows.org.

Best, Joyce
Community Gardens Director
Thank you to the volunteers who appear at the garden on a nearly daily basis. From high school students and board members, to the the U.S. Navy! The community garden expansion would not be possible without your help.
