Medicare enrollment periods that allow for some changes in coverage continue from January 1 through March 31.
There are two overlapping enrollment periods. The first is the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. If you have an Advantage Plan and wish to change to another Advantage Plan or to switch back to Original Medicare (plus D probably plus Medigap), you can do it in this period. The second is the General Enrollment Period. If you failed to enroll in Part A or B during other enrollment periods, you can do so (often with a penalty). For many others, Medicare initial enrollment and special enrollment periods are ongoing.
The Michigan Medicare Assistance Program offers assistance as a free public service throughout the year. If you would like assistance, Stacie Jackson, Recreation Specialist, 734-822-2117, will put you in touch with a certified MMAP counselor.

The Love, Lure, and Lore of The Laundry Line
Tuesday, Jan 30, 10:00am-12:00pm
The laundry line? What's there to talk about? Anne will take you on a nostalgic trip back in time to the days when everyone hung their wash on the line to dry – when they went online without the internet! There will be memories to share, links between the clothesline and social/cultural issues, history, feminism, psychology, sociology, and ecology. You will hear why "solar drying" – that wonderful free sun – is once again the way to go in today's eco-conscious world. There will be personal stories, delightful slides to see, along with a peek at Anne's vast collection of laundry memorabilia. We may end up with a laundry list of things to think about, but she won't leave us hanging while airing her thoughts. She will pin things down for us, and try to remove any hang-ups we may have about using the clothesline. So, come join us and let's hang out together!

Aging is a process we all experience; however, there are common myths and misconceptions about aging and brain health that many people believe to be true. Did you know that memory loss is not a normal part of healthy aging?
The current workshop aims to distinguish between normal aging processes and more complicated aging processes, which are impacted by medical conditions, lifestyle factors, behavioral concerns, and more.

Thursdays, Jan 18 - Mar 21, 1:00 - 3:00pm
This class will focus on what makes us happy. Brown paper packages tied up with strings? Whisker on kittens? Sentimental knick knack? Photos of loved ones?
This is open to those who wish to draw and/or paint with watercolor, and even play with mixed media. We'll begin with simple items, and as always I'll do demos and share my 'tricks' on making it easier. Mandalas are a fun way to repeat images of what we love. We will also look at examples of art that inspire happiness and ideas from the book "HAPPINESS 25 ways to live joyfully through art."
Basic drawing supplies are fine. Basic watercolor set is fine for those who prefer painting.
| | | |
Tuesdays, Feb 27 - Mar 26, 1:00 - 2:00pm
This series will take place lying on the floor. Re-activate and balance your core using gentle but effective movements from the Feldenkrais Method. Leave each week feeling re-energized while also more relaxed and grounded. Possible outcomes include better balance and gait, more strength and flexibility and improved breathing. You may be surprised at how improvements in your core can reduce aches and pains in your head/neck, arms and legs. Feldenkrais classes emphasize improved body awareness within the context of functional movement patterns to create lasting change. You can feel better in your body!
The instructor has been a Feldenkrais practitioner for 15 years and has taught to a wide variety of students.
