Team Pixel Drop Wins Richmond 48 Hour Film Festival

In July, Metro employees, familiar freelancers, and friends joined together as Team Pixel Drop to participate in Richmond's 48 Hour Film Project. Our film, titled "No One,"  came in first place and won a variety of additional awards !

As a refresher, the 48HFP is a competition in which teams are given a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue that must be used in a film that's written, shot, edited, and scored all within 48 hours.

"The thing I love the most about this competition and Team Pixel Drop is the collaboration," Director Ryan Farriss stated. "We have an incredible group of folks who put their all into every aspect of the process."

We walked away from the competition with the following awards:

Winner: Best Film (1st place in RVA), Best Editing, Best Musical Score, Best Use of Character, Best Directing (Tied),  Audience Choice Group C.
Honorable Mention : Best Graphics & Best Acting

We will compete against other 48HFP city winners at the next level of the competition, Filmapalooza, slated to take place March 2017.

"It's been such an incredible experience producing Pixel Drop films these past several years," Producer Tricia Dewey said. "I'm looking forward to finding out what our competition brings to the table at Filmapalooza!"

We appreciate everyone who worked tirelessly to bring our film to life. A huge thank-you goes out to Metro for supplying the equipment needed to complete the project.

Watch the film now, and a lso check out our winning film from last year, "Fool Me Twice."

Metro's GSA Contract Extended

For over 15 years, Metro has proudly provided video production services to government agencies nationwide. Originally awarded in 2001, Metro's GSA contract has recently been extended to 2021.

GSA stands for the General Services Administration, a government agency formed in 1949 that assists federal employees with acquiring goods and services by streamlining the purchasing process. Discount resources are provided to GSA federal, state, and local government organizations.  Metro's GSA clients benefit from most-favored customer pricing and a quick and easy contracting vehicle that results in cost-savings, shorter contracting lead times, greater transparency, and better procurement control.

Some of our government clients include the Department of Labor, all branches of the military, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Office of the Attorney General. Metro looks forward to continuing our work under the extended contract.

Habitat for Humanity Celebrates 30th Anniversary with Commemorative Video

2016 marks Richmond Habitat for Humanity's 30th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate the momentous occasion than with a commemorative video? Metro was honored to produce a film showcasing the organization's accomplishments over the last three decades.
As part of our community outreach efforts, Metro works with a variety of non-profit organizations, either volunteering in person or using our creative talents to provide video services. It is with pleasure that we add Habitat to our list of non-profit clients.
Richmond Habitat for Humanity revitalizes neighborhoods and permanently brings families out of poverty by building or rehabbing homes. As a result of the dedication of Habitat employees, donors, and volunteers, more than 331 families in the Greater Richmond area have been given the gifts of empowerment and hope by becoming homeowners. We are proud to share their triumphant stories.
