Dear Friends,
We are thrilled to share some exciting progress from Places to Age—and an incredible opportunity for you to double your impact on a project that truly matters.
As you may know, our mission is to ensure that older adults in Chaffee County can remain close to family and community by bringing assisted living and memory care services to the area.
Thanks to your support, we’re steadily moving toward making that vision a reality.
Here’s what’s happening:
- We have hired an industry architect to produce a schematic design (the initial phase of architectural plans).
- We’ve hired an owner’s rep to help us with the upcoming development phases. This individual has significant development experience in Senior Living facilities, particularly Assisted Living and Memory Care.
- We’ve also hired a local contractor for this initial pre-construction phase to determine development costs using a cooperative design/build approach.
- We have added a part-time bookkeeper and grant writer to our team.
- Our subdivision plan is scheduled for its first public hearing with the Salida Planning Commission and the Salida City Council on June 10th.
- We anticipate sharing the initial architectural designs with the community in July.
But this momentum comes with significant costs. To help us stay on track, a group of generous anonymous donors is offering a matching grant challenge—every dollar you give will be matched, up to $35,000 by July 27 for a total of $70,000. These funds will cover critical predevelopment expenses and help us prepare for the major capital campaign required to build the facility.
Your gift now will go twice as far and help ensure that seniors in Chaffee County won't have to leave the county to find the care they need.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re creating a community where everyone can age in the community they love —with dignity, care, and connection.
With gratitude,
The Places to Age Team
